If you haven't stopped by http://slurl.com/secondlife/Highcastle/216/181/117 take a look. Our favorite little ad cutter has decided to kill the value of the auction sims by putting an adfield right at the corner where 3 adjacent sims await auction. Do you think this will propel action by Linden Labs, or will it go unnoticed?

LL won't act until it hits the price of auctions, which it surely will and by then it's going to be a bit late. His practices are nothing new but they should act as a warning to anyone considering either purchasing land in a new sim or bidding for a new sim, he's likely to devalue your land before you've had time to catch your breath.

I think it's a pretty clear attempt to interfere with an LL-run auction mind you, by deliberately spamming the area to reducing the price of the land, and have ARed it as such.

From: Cristalle Karami My money is on it going unnoticed, by LL or the eventual auction winner. Unnoticed by LL, I'm sure, but do you really think bids would go as high for a sim with a pre-trashed periphery? I think it's a clear ploy to keep those bids down, and to reduce the value of any parcels the auction winner might split off, making it cheap to spread the cancer to the next sim, and the next.... By the way, does it bother anybody else that the spinning yellow smiley faces bears a religious icon? That's an awfully sensitive topic, but if it were my religion, I think I'd be made pretty uncomfortable by where that symbol is being used. On the other hand, I'd be the first to defend Andres Serrano's RL use of a different religion's icon, so maybe I'm just being hypersensitive about this one.

If the auction winner comes from the earliest bids, it's unlikely that they saw the spinning pile of poo. But don't underestimate the power of greed. Auctions already go for inflated prices and a determined bidder will bid what it takes, spinning ad farms be damned. Yes, the ads devalue the lots, but only those closest to them. All in all, it will be a wash at worst.

It's quite a party at that site right now. Hax sitting on one of his spinners, waving a gun (land set to damage). People 'apparating' He seems to be flaunting the whole situation. Really giving SL two fingers. Someone has bought a few plots and is setting up pictures of that pig, and U.M.'s name on them Hax walking arond his (unsafe) plots waving a gun

If he's the one I'm thinking of, he even belonged to a group that was fighting ad farms and used to boast in group chat about all the money he was making.

At least most people are fortunate that they do not suffer from the issues this person clearly suffers from. Well, true, or at least he would be one of those tiresome self-important cash-obsessed young men who try make up for their lack of ability with simple greed. The principle is not that hard after all; anybody can be a wanker. But his, and other's, ability to continue on this path on the grid still irks me.

Yes Qie, it bothers me a great deal.
You know, it would be nice to have a "don't sell this land to" option.
