From: Lexxi Gynoid The strange thing is that I'll eat bacon and ham, but do not really like pork. There's one for ya - using different words determines if I'll eat something or not. Not so unusual. Lots of people make that odd distinction. Bacon for some reason not the same as a ham or ham not the same as pork. Figure that out. For years I did the same thing. Now it's all good. Better watch out or I'll eat myself should I go as a pig furry

From: Ann Launay ...Kitten Lulu's Teleport Effects HUD... Ann - you were spot on with that deduction... I used Search and found Kitten Lulu, and she has her TP HUD landmark in her Picks in her profile... Thanks so much for knowing that one!!

Thanks so much for knowing that one!! Glad I could help. She had a kiosk on a friend's island when I was newish...pretty much everyone in our group wound up with one.

From: Day Oh A friend who showed me this concept referred to them as "summons." They're called 'Summon' and 'Vanish' on the HUD...you can set them to do different effects depending on whether you're coming or going.

From: Elora Lunasea Void - if you ever manage to do a Porky Pig, let me know. I'll pay you for it the shrinking blackout will be hard, but I've an idea for that too.... sounds like a fun challenge, don't be surprised if you get an IM from me out of nowhere =)

I just call them teleport effects =S
However, I've never been able to get exit teleports effects to work properly.

Lots of people will eat calamari but balk at squid - and that's probably why they put steak tartare on menus, but never raw hamburger. I hate to say this but all I see when people use poofers is a puff of gray squares and then ruth suddenly appears and she sometimes turns into a regular person.

It's unlikely you'd see your own exits, since they occur as you leave...when the screen goes black and the tp bar pops up. If other people aren't seeing them, it's probably lag-related. From: Bree Giffen I hate to say this but all I see when people use poofers is a puff of gray squares and then ruth suddenly appears and she sometimes turns into a regular person. lol, it's mostly for the poofer-owner's amusement anyway.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! A fun thread and I missed most of it......(Goes running off to room to cry.......................................................) OK I'm back! (sniffles) From: bilbo99 Emu Ah yes, the good old days we flood-gate riders hear about I keep trying to get my head around having to tp from Telehub to Telehub and .. walking!!!! Eee we youngsters don't know we're born lol. I have a theory: I think if I didn't have to sit, impatiently waiting for rezzing .. and tp-ing .. and friends list ... and logging .. and changing outfits .. I'd get everything done too quickly and get bored and leave Yep I have heard the stories from some of the old foggy SLers. This was back about the time when you had to walk 10 kilometers through waist high snow to attend class at Teazers and it was uphill both ways. Right?

Telehubs weren't _that_ long ago. I was around for them. At least now you don't have the comedy "HyperTeleporters" which were meant to avoid needing to use telehubs by just flying you really fast to your destination. So you would type in where you wanted to go - usually by coordinate - and your AV would be thrown into the air, pushed through multiple sims at high speed (usually with the map going crazy) and would FALL OUT OF THE SKY at your destination (Actually I kept using mine for a bit after P2P because it was so funny

Going off track since you brought up Ruth, I just discovered that in the Library folder, there is a Ruth av available! Who knew that we all could easily convert back to a Ruth anytime we cared to?

From: Cee Edman Then there's sweetbreads (aka brains).... Actually, sweetbreads are the thymus gland or pancreas. Sorry, that isn't much better.

Prairie Oysters as known as Rocky Mountain Oysters in my neck o the woods and they're actually bulls' testicles. Rather like grainy meatballs.
And for what it's worth, those TP poofers drive me nuts. I hate standing around waiting for 40,000 particles to dissipate so that I can actually see again.
