(poll) understanding "residents online": which continent are you from?

The poll had Australia, it is more correct these days to call the continent Oceania, which includes south pacific islands such as us in New Zealand.

If Australia isn't a continent, then you gotta disqualify Europe because of England and Sicily. What I've always seen described as Oceania includes a lot more than that site lists... including all the South Pacific islands, most of which are on a separate Plate.

And Pluto is a planet.

I agree, the geological "continent" and the historical "continent" are not the same thing at all. For example how can Australia be a continent when it shares the plate with India? I would have been happy if the poll listed "Pacific" in addition to Australia or gone with Oceania.

Oh and Pluto is a planet in my opinion - in fact it may be getting it's planetary status back :p

I am no geologist but what you have to remember is that historically continents were considered to be the great land masses on the earth. This was long before they found out about the tectonics plates which really defined the continents. Even now there is debate about which one is the true continent - plate or landmass. :D

Marianne, Sansara is not a continent. It is a country located near Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is located on the Asian continent. So therefore, the continent you are from is Asia.


No, Sansara is the old continent, below the Heterocera Atoll and above Jeogeot.
