I've updated my "Linden Lab Mainland Continents" and "Sansara & Heterocera" maps.

Enjoy.

Thanks Carl. Love the maps, and especially appreciate that you let us know when they've been updated, so I know to check whether I need to move "You Are Here" markers (when the maps change scale, etc.).

These are very detailed. I can almost see the trees on my parcel near the west coast of Sansara. Well okay, the mountain they're rooted in anyway.

This is such an important service. I don't think I would ever get an idea of where things are in relation to each other with teleporting, and few have the patience to wait for very much of the big map to download.

I got a question: On Sansara, what are the north and south islandia areas?
I was checking them out on the map the other day and I remember saying to myself how disjointed those region blocks look. Almost like a reincarnation of old, totally unrelated mainland sims all thrown together.

Those maps are fantastic, I really had no idea what continent I was on before this.

The South Islandia area was something Ashe's crew made and is sold as Mainland. Our sims are Tropical with protected water, +/- 4 meters elevation and sculpted quite nicely ;) Volcanos exist and it is not all flat or mountains. There were a series of protected waterways but they mostly have been bought by residents. The water height is 20 meters. From the map it looks like a SoCal track area but once you get here it looks pretty varied ;) Come check it out. Most of the sims were named for famous painters and artists.

Thanks for letting us know. I remember earlier this week at NCI I noticed the all-islands was updated. Nice to see all the roads on too.

I didnt know there was a teen grid transfer station, but it makes sense.

Re orientation Island2 - it's right there by the gulf but no access. I wonder if it will open to us or disappear?

Very awesome.. these maps are always an cherished asset.

I may be mistaken, but the last time I drove around the roads in Sansara (about a month ago).. the road leading from the Bear Infohub to the Sutherland Dam.. doesn't connect. That last "Y" interesction, and then the northbound road drops off into water.

I know it's kind of a complex question, but is there any way these road lines could show which roads are "finished" and which roads are just set-aside land? (like the section running through Brolga, for example, totally unpaved). Perhaps with differing colours, with grey denoting "finished road", yellow denoting "partial/damaged road", and red denoting "missing road" That way you'd only need to do the colouring in sim-sized blocks.

Likewise, it'd be cool if we could tell the difference between roads and railroads.

I don't know anything about it, but I suspect -- given the new location + it being the no longer being used orientation set-up -- that there will be some new work done up there. Which will mean Carl having to update again. :-)

Great job as always, Carl. Sad to see my old Islandia plot no longer "green" like it was, but that's not nothing to do with your excellent work. :-)

The Islandia area were an experiment with letting estate owners buy and terraform part of the mainland estate. They were originally more extensive, but after they started being bought up Linden Labs suddenly (well, it seemed to me) removed most of them from sale and from the map... so I assume the experiment didn't work out the way Linden Labs wanted.

North Islandia is where I have my home. Originally, Anshe cut the parcels into flat sandy squares like lots of the private residential sims do today. This caused a lot of controversy, so she went in and really outdid herself making them over. The end result is that Islandia North has some pretty nice terrain. Mostly tropical themed, there are three snow sims attached to the NE corner as well.

Considered a prestigious address, there are a few old time businesses located here, especially the very cool mall that takes up all of the Bratz sim.

I live on the south coast of Marmela. Unblockable view of the great void sea. Anshe built a very deep river that runs through much of the tropics. This cuts my parcel roughly in half, and is a really nice place to swim and float. I'm always on the lookout for mainland, but haven't found a place nearly as nice at any price.

Most of my SL time has been spent in South Islandia, on a nice plot along the eastern edge of the continent. It's the place I've recently moved from & am selling.

I don't believe that any part of North Islandia was terraformed by Anshe. I know that the sims Marmela, Gramela, and Doesberg were purchased and terraformed by MarmelaGramela Doesberg, for instance.

Thanks for the info Argent. I thought Anshe got all of those bulksales sims.

I found some old pics of the Islandias:

I think this is Islandia South before Anshe redid the canals.

Pretty sure that this is the sim border of Everfrost and Doesburg on Islandia North, looking west.
