I used to be a fanatic about my inventory, but since August 08, i stopped filing things away. I used to spend 1hr every Sunday morning organizing my inventory. Now when i look at it, i see way more than 1 hours worth of work.
If you organized your inventory today, how long would it take you?

I had about 25,000 in my inventory. Recently I spent hours getting rid of all the duplicates and junk that I don't use. Some of it was pretty wacky stuff that I hadn't seen before. By the time I was done I reached about 5,500 items, but it took days to get it there.

I'm a fanatic about my Inventory. I get a little out of joint when I buy something, forget it, and then log back in to see random folders all over the place. Maybe it's because the rest of my life is so scattered and tattered. I'm an Inventory Anorexic. (I know that's probably offensive but it's sort of true.) I get upset when I get over 6500 items.

I am obsessive about my inventory and it is always organized, to the point, when I buy something, I will go through the folder it came in, removing anything in the folder I won't use, including LM's, if I have the LM already in another one of my organized LM folders, lol. My inventory hovers around 3,000.

When I was at "Noob+3Months" I let my inventory become a total disaster, to the point where my right scroll bar for my main inventory folder was actually hard to grab with my cursor. It took forever to get organized, and I vowed to keep it perfectly organized from then on.

Mine hit meltdown sometime in mid '07, so ever since then I've kept it organized in master catagory folders. Now, the only thing that really needs sorting is the 'new stuff' folders which get cleaned out about once a month. Takes half an hour maybe... Sad part is it's usually right before a monumental shopping spree, so the only real progress I make is in total item count

I just organized my inventory this weekend, after someone posted last week about theirs being out of control.
I started with about 6,000 items and finished around 3,500. Everything was actually fairly well organized, there was just a lot of old things that look pretty crappy by today's newfangled standards. So, it was more of a cull than a re-org.
I'd say I spent 2-3 hours in there, but I was also reading old chat logs trying to remember who all those contact cards belonged to, and IMing with friends. I parked myself in one of AM Radio's builds because I love the music he streams. I felt super satisfied when I was done!
The funny thing about inventories is whenever someone tells me they're looking for a LM or something to give me, I always picture them rummaging around in a big purse or courier bag, rather than pulling up a window on their screen.

I've done it twice. Both times I've been able to reduce it to something below 15k items and both times it took about 8 hours. I never did any solid deletes. I just have a bunch of named and dated boxes in one of my floor prims at home. (^_^)y

I just have a bunch of named and dated boxes in one of my floor prims at home. (^_^)y That is how I ended up creating a miniture city. I rezzed a box to put stuff into. Wait, I thought, I don't want just a plain plywood box, let's look in textures. skip skip skip .. found a neat building in library and slapped it on there and started playing with the box. Ended up with a miniture city, 17 buildings strong with streets. Never did get around to creating that "storage box" so I could throw things into it. Same way I ended up creating a 1 prim bath with pose built in (instead of 1 prim bath with 1 prim poseball = 2 prims). Um, there I was trying to make a 1 prim frame instead of my 5 prim frame . . um 10 . . however many prim frame. Since I can't shrink my glasses that I made down. I can't really build and anytime I try, I build something else. re inventory: something approaching 40K. Every time I start to organize I start doing something else, as above. At this rate it will take me longer than my life expectancy (I started reorganizing 2+ years ago).

I used to have my inventory pretty organized, but lately I've been in-world so little that it's gotten away from me.
I could probably organize it if I accepted "new stuff - unsorted" as "organized", instead of wanting to get things arranged down to "Carnivora/Caniformia/Musteloidea/Mustelidae/Ferret..."

With the hunts I've been doing, nearly hit 28,000, but mostly still finding stuff. Have decided never to do hunts again (well, unless small ones) and still thinking about just trashing everything I have in my hunt folders. Should bring it down to about 24,000 then.
