Longtime SL resident Garth FairChang lost his battle with pancreatic cancer this morning. Garth and his partner in SL and RL, Pituca, have worked diligently to make SL a very special place.

I have spent thousands of $L on Garth's wonderful trains, and they have run in our sim for 9 months. We are all blessed with his creativity.

I didn't know Garth very well, nor do i know Pituca very personally either; however, i've been aware of them and proud to call them fellow SLers since i first knew of them thos several years ago.

Pituca, if you read this, may you shine on brightly knowing that Garth was a genuinely loved and appreciated person in both worlds. These times aren't easy.. you have our prayers, hugs and love to lend for strength though.

i can't write any more.. i have to get back to work and it's not easy if there are tears clouding your vision.

Fly thee well, Garth.

I only spoke to the Fairchangs once, exactly a year ago and via a notecard in which I asked about the Taber sim. I wish I'd had the chance to get to know Garth more and my thoughts are with his wife, family and friends both in SL and RL.

I have nothing but happy memories of the time I've spent with Garth and Pituca on the old Montmartre sim all those years ago. My condolences to everyone he touched.

Here's a photo from the memorial built by some residents. The photo viewer on the right shows various images of Garth & Pituca, as well as scenes from FairChang. In this photo, it's showing Garth's Fanway Park, a stadium he and Pituca made available to FairChang residents.

One of the earliest things that I ever came across that totally enchanted me in SL was the Seagull that Garth made. I will always remember him for that even though we never met. I set one loose flying at this memorial, SLURL given above. These wonderful creatures are given away free at one of the Fairchang islands.

I just now found out about this thread. I want to thank you all for writing about your wonderful memories of Garth.

I would just like to quote a piece of the announcement I made on our FairChang blog:

"He was like a comet in my life, speeding through and touching every corner of my life and soul. I will miss him so much but know he is at peace now and waiting for me on the other side."
