Longtime SL resident Garth FairChang lost his battle with pancreatic cancer this morning. Garth and his partner in SL and RL, Pituca, have worked diligently to make SL a very special place.
I don't have the words to express what I'd like to say at the moment, but I know many of the regular readers of this forum knew Garth and would want to know this sad news.

Thank you for the post Beck as I did not know that Garth had been battling cancer.
Condolences to Pituca, you both created a very special environment for many people in SL.

I remember being thrilled to bits when Garth gave me a beautiful boat when bumped into him as a confused newbie. A kind, friendly man who made SL better for others.
This is so sad to hear. My sincere condolences to Pituca and his friends and families.

Ive known he was ill for some time, and was talking about him just the other day. I'm so deeply sorry to hear it, and I hope Pituca is doing okay (or as okay as she can be, given the circumstances). Sad news indeed, and a loss for us all.

Death is terrifying because it is so ordinary, it happens all the time, but Garth FairChang was an extraordinary man. I hope everyone who knew him is able to find peace as I know he has now.

Very sad news - they are two of the kindest people I was lucky enough to know in Second Life. My heart and thoughts are with Pituca.

What sad news - although not unexpected. The FairChangs were supposed to attend SLCC this year and had to cancel at the last minute as his health deteriorated. I was bummed not to meet them.

I remember meeting Garth and Pituca in 2003. They were among the first people I ever encountered in SL. Both very friendly. I recall hearing about them getting married and doing a road trip in California.
Pituca, I'm so sorry for your loss.

My condolences to Pituca and family. SL has lost a monumental innovator and benefactor. His contributions are significant to the point of being elementary to the experience of every SL resident, even if they do not know his name.
