I discovered the lovely Crescent Moon museum by chance in summer 2007, just after Pituca and Garth took it completely under their wings in Fairchang Village. The lovely build, set on a small rise in a peaceful spot with a few trees, the FEEL of a real museum with both a standing collection and visiting exhibits, in such a small space. And the mysterious Mata Hari hunt, which I think at the moment I found it was still a little broken from the move. Just as well, I ended up exploring every aspect of that build!

Much that I found in SL at that time seemed bizarrely fantastic. Crescent Moon and its lovely setting stood out as exemplars of how SL could personify the best of RL as well as SL. A smiling spirit seemed to lay over the place, and now, in these posts, I see where it arose.

Thank you Fairchangs! May that smiling spirit follow you always, Pituca.

A fine gentleman and a role model if ever there was one. A person could do far worse than aspire to be just like him, in the example of his character and kindness.

May the roads rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm you face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Oh dear....

I met Garth in-world many times, and he was always a wonderful individual to work with, and surely one of the best and most honest of the Land Barons that I ever met in SL.

I had not known he was ill at all. My heart and prayers go out to his berieved loved ones, and his many friends. He shall indeed be missed.

I was not fortunate enough to meet Garth but I know the FairChang name from being on at least one of his sims. I always meant to do the Mata Hari hunt and never got around to it.

My deepest sympathy and prayers to Garth's family and friends.

Very sad news indeed.
My condolences and best wishes to his family.

I didn't know Garth except by reputation.
I do remember the first time I heard the name though and that was when I stumbled across the Fairchang shop that used to be on the mainland. I remember being very impressed with the items being given away there for free.

Garth and Pituca both are fixtures of the best of SL for me. They gave me much of the encouragement and inspiration that kept me in world and creating for over 5 years. I haven't any words that are adequate to this loss both to his family, to the SL world and to the RL world.

I can say that the thoughts and prayers of my entire family group are with his family in this heatrwrenching time.

Rest in Peace Garth knowing your work in life was well done.

I know that I must have spoken with either Garth or Pituca at sometime in my long SL. I just can't rememberwhen. I DO know of so many people talking about Garth's generosity in world.

Garth, rest in peace knowing you had time with Pituca and & family.

Pituca, my heart is with you.

Shot in a happier moment, at Garth and Pituca's fifth SL anniversary, November 15th, 2008

I hope that plans are already underway for a memorial to him in the Linden Memorial Garden.

You sailed your ship across the seas of life
To see what could be done
And created a legend for timid souls to follow.

Now that ships lies abandoned in the harbour
Creaking in the winds and tides
No hand upon the wheel
Its sails furled for another day.

But Lo! A ships pulls away from a distant shore
It's sails full and crew unseen
En route to lands beyond the darken'd veil.

Sail on! Sail on!

Here's a photo from the memorial built by some residents. The photo viewer on the right shows various images of Garth & Pituca, as well as scenes from FairChang. In this photo, it's showing Garth's Fanway Park, a stadium he and Pituca made available to FairChang residents.

Garth and Pituca were the epiotomy of everything good about SL. They met here and in real life and consumated a virtual love affair turned reality.

Garth leaves behind a plethora of friends who will miss him dearly. Myself included.

There is a bit of his soul in every seagull in Second Life.

My sincere condolences to Pituca, family and friends.

He finally has wings.

So sorry to hear this news. Garth and Pituca were always so tightly knit together as a couple, theirs was one of the love stories of SL, and contained so many firsts, not least the fusion of their name.

My condolences to Pituca and the rest of Garth's family.

Such sad news :(

I remember Garth and Pituca from way back as part of the bedrock of the early creative SL, two wonderful friendly people who never seemed far from one anothers side.

Such pleasure given to so many … I still remember my first ride, five years ago, in my little Fairchang gyrocopter, with a smile :) Memories given live on.

My deepest sympathies go out to Pituca, all family and loved ones.

We'll all miss you.

D.
