If one wanted to have an ALT party, how would one go about it?

That's true - and I apologize for that. Your's and several others were very kind. It was one particular one who indicated I was apparently "the problem" that has my Irish dander up. *grins*

Sorry Graph, my friend, but I have to agree with Rhaorth. This was especially disingenuous:

From: Graphicguru Gustav

This thread should not in any way resemble the other thread... btw, which one are you referring to?I think I asked a legit and GENERAL question...if I recall... lets not read more into this than what my question asks, please.

And then to respond later with this:

From: Graphicguru Gustav

I think THESE are the kind of answers I am actually looking for, thanks SuezanneC!

As if to imply your question couldn't be asked without the blatant references and the poll.

Sorry, Bud, you let me down. I've decided at this point I'll sadly skip this party. It's really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Bradley, if I may, keep in mind it's not Graph putting the party on...I feel you might be punishing the wrong person if you do boycott the party.

I do realize that you tend to put some thought into your actions and words, but I'd just like to ask if you could reconsider this decision...if, upon further reflection, you find that you simply cannot support Claire's efforts, I respect that...but please don't find fault due to a one-off or two-off connection.

That, and I'm positive there are many other people who'd feel the loss if you didn't show up.

Good point, Joseph. Graph and I have a friendly relationship and respect for each other so it wasn't just his action that made me react. I know he loves Claire and probably is reacting himself.

I guess it's been the overall bitterness in the last thread and this was the last straw. You're right though, I have been looking forward to this one and it looks like a time that I'll actually be able to make it, which doesn't always happen. I'll probably get over my grumpiness today by then. Last thing I want to do is add fuel to the fire.

Thanks for setting me straight.

Raorth, I'm sorry you were made to feel so bad. I kept out of the other thread because I didn't want to add to the fuss, and didn't have a strong opinion one way or the other. I think the party is a great idea, but also agree somewhat with your viewpoint, too.

However, no matter how it was attempted to be brushed off, this thread was just a resurrection of that, or an attempt at a resurrection. And that I strongly disagreed with and had to say something.

Even if Graph meant it in all innocence, it was still a bit of bad taste to post it.

I probably couldn't have made it to the party, but if I were going, I wouldn't change my plans to go becuase of this, however. I think Claire really didn't mean anything wrong in posting the other thread, and she also felt bad, I think, over the fuss it caused.

I wanted to throw in my two cents..as a bystander..not really having formed an opinion about either side in the prev thread.

People keep saying that it was in bad taste..well of course it was bad taste. If someone I loved had started an innocent thread that got caught up into the poilitics of where it should be posted and the thread was manipulated into infinity to the point that everyone and their monkeys uncle had something to say about it..I'd have a pretty bad taste in my mouth too.

The dissention we heard in the other thread was nothing more than another group of people who felt as if others(maybe including themselves had been done wrong) They used the tactic..(and we all know the tactic :) ) of flooding the thread with bile...mixed with Truth and facts.

I'm not saying that they didn't have a point about the thread being misplaced..but after seeing several threads derailed in a fun timely fashion...this one was highjacked..at gun point...and forced to a stop.

So yea..Maybe Graph is upset..I would be too...maybe the others have been letting un moderated forums wind them up to the point that Claires goodwill was moved and theyr'e upset..rightfully so.

No matter what you do or how you act here on the forums..if you live by the sword..you will die by the sword. I'm sure it was a victory for some..but a very hollow one considering the OPs original intent.

graph I like you, you know that

but this post just stings and it is in bad taste

you know that the first thing anyone sees when they look at this post, is the other thread

and being one of the people who were against advertising events in RA, I feel like this post/poll is just a slap in the face

it so could have been worded differently

all the snide comments, all the stupid "place that shall not be named" crap stings

I feel like every time I see those comments that I am being shoved further and further away, just because I had a difference of opinion

it is almost like people are being "smart" about it and saying SEE I CAN SNEAK IT IN THERE, so F you!

why? just tell me why you would even post anything that even remotely rings of the other thread?

IF the intent was to hurt those who had a different opinion than yours... well it is working well on me...

I did not vote nor will I

now if you want legit answers to a legit question... post it properly., not a stupid poll with crappy obviously made up answers... not a poll that is openly a slap in the face to those of us who do not agree with the majority

I think I repeated myself a lot in this post, if so I am sorry, I am just shocked and at a loss for exactly the right words... I did not expect this... at all...

Actually Rhaorth, I agree with you. This thread is completely unwarranted and rather spiteful, which is why I said earlier that Graph shouldn't have started it in the first place. But please understand, Rhaorth, that this is NOT A DIRECT ATTACK ON YOU. It's just tackiness on Graph's part.

I am not sure how folks took my comments in the other thread

I want to state here that in no way shape or form, did I attack claire or berate her for posting the thread there

my comments were directed at the thread, not the poster and yes, I think they can be separate
the thing that irked me, is, that technically it was posted against the forum rules, but it seems very very very few ppl will come out and state that
most fought tooth and nail that it was posted where it belongs

I see it in black and white

it was an event, should have been in the events listing. I have nothing against claire.

It seems that from what I read no one was attacking claire, and that most were just trying to point out the error of the location of the thread

and on that note I am gonna back out, I have nothing more to say

the only thing this thread is doing, is continuing the one that we let die

so why not just let this one slip away too (or would you (general you) rather keep slapping those who disagree with your point of view)

I for one am tired of being slapped, and sadly I think what will happen is it will push me away from the forums... (yep the regulars, clique, group of friends, forum club, whatever you wish to call them, will win, they will have driven away one of those who do not bend to their point of view)

(if the above comment pisses you off, question yourself as to why, if it doesn't then ... don't worry about it)

Since I've never attacked you, your comment in no way pisses me off, but I do worry about it simply because it makes me SAD. Sad that you were hurt. I can't help it, lol.

The fact that you would equate the 1 (or 2?) people who were boors to you, with the rest of the people who post in the forums or the clique, whatever that means, and let those 1 or 2 drive you away, saddens me. Again, I can't help it. I simply don't understand.

Me, too. I also didn't see it as Claire being attacked. Just as I didn't see it as anyone attacking YOU personally for your thoughts on where the thread should have been posted. It was simply your opinion. The opinions of others were different then yours. If for some reason someone DID attack you, they were jerks, but they do NOT represent or speak for everyone here.

I so wish you could explain to me how 1 or 2 people have made you write this -
";(yep the regulars, clique, group of friends, forum club, whatever you wish to call them, will win, they will have driven away one of those who do not bend to their point of view)

Please respond, I really would like to know.

You know, I am so sorry everyone took this the wrong way; I was really hoping to start off of on the right foot. I didn’t realize there was such bitter contention and unwillingness to forgive so widespread in the family. so I will end it here, I did get some good feedback on how to go about starting an alt party so lets just leave it at that. Again...sorry about that folks.

Gustav......if Claire would have just let me hold on to that other thread just a little longer....you wouldn't have had to post this one. Damm.
