I just ran across one of these characters who write in the "picks" section of their profile something along these lines: "This is the lovely Penelope Bigboobs. Mess with her and you are in for a world of hurt. My family will hunt you down, rip out your heart and feed your bloody carcass to the ravens. I will defend what is dear to me with a ferocity that you don't want to encounter." Charming, eh? Am I the only one who is finding that rather amusing, in a pathetic sort of way? Well, it sure has a more dramatic ring to it than the more realistic "... she'll chuckle resignedly, then mute and ban you and, if you don't stop griefing her, AR you."  |

Roleplay is a wonderful thing. Yes it's amusing, but I don't think it's pathetic, even though I've seen many posters on here laughing at and deriding such text in picks. It's his IC (in-character) way of expressing his protection of Miss Bigboobs. His girl, his imagination

I wouldn't be surprised if poor old Penelope gets -more- grief than usual because of her ultra-protective hero's statement. He sounds the sort that might go around making enemies and soon enough someone is likely to take up the challenge just to wind him up.  -- Aes |

I unashamedly look at peoples' profiles and I'm happy for people to look at mine, quote it in chat, whatever!
I find these agressive or paranoid profiles amusing. They are stupid, yes, but they are funny too. What gets me most are the people who go to some trouble to fill in their profile with abusive things about 'profile stalkers'. Why not just leave your profile blank if you don't want people reading it!!!!>????
I'm friendly and outgoing, so my profile is up-beat and, admittedly, a bit self-indulgent. But it's all nice.
I belong to the SLProfiles site and one only has to read some of the blogs on there to see the unfathomable workings of some residents' minds and the emotional martyrdoms they subject themselves to.

When my RL joined SL, I was kinda protective of them, SL being their 1st online community.
But had to let them learn their paces. As a joke to those kind of aggressive Profile Picks.
I put them on my Picks w/ a "...mess w/ them and you become my hobby" then "ahaha no seriously they are on their own!"
ya Know I have one of those anti dram mentions.
I've been on the tail end of my own SL scarlet letter drama, been pressured to play a cog, audience to ppls, "friends" dilemmas.
And it wrung me out! I don't have enough brain cells to contend w/ all that over thinking on other ppls part. After being in SL for almost 3 yrs, some of us have found the "tits" to opt out of dramas and fearlessly friggen mean it.

It always makes me laugh because really there is really nothing they can do. Empty threats. It just makes them look foolish. I don't believe in making threats you can't back up.
