While I've never experienced anything like this myself, my first responce would be to send the girl's avatar's name to Live Help and make them aware that you know for a fact that the user in question in underage. Proving it will be another matter altogether, but hopefully it will at least start the process of getting the account looked into and the proper steps (Moving it? Banning it?) taken.

If you Find their Parent Uninterested in your Concerns, you may also have to Involve Chile Welfare authorities within your Jurisdiction.

However, there's really nothing that the parent has done that would fall under anything child welfare can or should be involved in.

If her mom knows she's giving "e-blowjobs" and etc to other people that's one thing, chances are she doesn't and you're taking the context of whatever was said about her boobs wrong.

Tell the mom what she's doing, contact the Lindens, think very, very carefully though before you start running around involving legalities in it.

Yes, contact LL to have the avatar moved to the teen grid--an Abuse Report is probably the best way. Probably also have a non-juddgemental conversation with the mother, letting her know the extent of the activities. No one has been molested here and not everyone shares the same mores on what children should know (or at least tell you they know) about sex.

I came to find out how to report it i have never reported anything and did not know were to start Live help told me to file an Abuse Report under Age i did i gave them her game name and RL name and address.
A Lindon found me in game and she is not found on people search so i assume she was moved to the teen grid. I did my part her mom can do the rest.

I have a teenage daughter and trust me, the odds of a teenager actually making that statement knowing a parent was in the room are slim to none. In fact, it's not even likely she'd make the statement to her friends alone until after getting a feel for what they think of it and how they spend their time in SL first. Plus knowing what you know about teenagers and their parents, is it really likely that a mother and daughter are discussing and collaborating on things like cybersex and boob size? Hardly.

So I have a very hard time believing this is a true story.

But let's say for the sake of argument that it actually happened.

Step one, you sit down with the kid and get as much of the truth as you can. Try to get her to actually put into words what she does online and how much of what she said is bragging and how much is accurate.

Step two, talk to her about the risks of being online. Because at the end of the day she's going to do her own thing no matter what you or anyone else thinks. She's 13 not 3, she's making her own decisions whether you think she's ready to or not, give her something to think about while she's making them.

Step three, report her anonymously to the Lindens.

Step four, call the parent and do not accuse, do not judge, simply politely and respectfully inform. And for the sake of your own relationship with your own child...keep your child out of it. If you force her to rat on her friend or cause a rift between her and her friend, she will only resent you for it and you will create a rift in your own relationship.

Step five, walk away, concentrate on raising your own kids and let the other parents raise theirs.

how so? its a know fact there very young kids in this game. In fact even in some of the helper groups. Sorry but this story is very believable.

And you think sex is only something physical? The psychological/mental consequences for a younger person can be very bad, even when it was just cybering.

i am surprised at some of the responses this thread has gotten. wether the poster made it up or not, its disturbing, that a majority here would condone a 13yo was engaging in adult activities. obviously the poster is familiar with the childs parent(at least i hope so) and called them first before posting for help in how to deal with it in game.

wether it was her ava or not there is still a child behind the keyboard engaging in things she shouldnt. i for one would love to see the open registration unverufyable accounts cease but not at the expense of using or making up such a story as this(however perhaps(HAHA) LL will take a closer look at this practicve and admit(yeah right) that maybe it wasnt such a good idea.

p.s. shakes my head: no wonder we have a generation of babies having babies: parents to afraid to parent. no 13 yo should have to deal with sexual issues. at least not in this form.better to overreact and lose a friend for a season. then to shrug say not my kid and have them become another statistic, or a blurb on the morning news.

i remember a time when i couldnt do any dirt, because by the time i got home my mom knew what i did, where i did it, and whom i did it with. How? old school nieghborhood watch. maybe the media has made everyone so scared of everybody, that parents are to terrified to discipline or take responsibility for thier own childs actions.

So long as the child is capable of understanding the distinction between real life and a computer game there isn't too much of a problem. A lot of 13 year olds aren't, but a few mature ones are. However, if she were one of the mature ones capable of engaging with adult themes in a safe and responsible manner, then she would have also had the sense to keep quiet while you were there. Personally, at 13 I reckon I was mature enough to have dealt with these kind of situations, but most of my friends weren't. You have to judge each case on it's merits I suppose, and in this case I'd defintitely say there's cause for concern.

I do tend to side with Allana and Joshua here in that I feel most people are needlessly overreacting. Most certainly report the minor (and her underage friends) to LL in order to arrange for them to be moved to the Teen Grid. Then, if possible, arrange for a session or three of non-judgemental counselling for the parent and child. Involving the law, social services, authorities, whatever is possibly a bit extreme. We're not dealing with a child abuser and victim here, merely a parent who's possibly a bit lax and a typical teenager out to get away with whatever she can.
