Is the AO mod? Sometimes we can add on a typing animation. I hate messing with AO's, but I think I can help.

I don't know, but will check later this afternoon. I'm a bit hesitant about messing with it though. I'm still having bad problems with walking animations: don't want to extend that to the swim ones.

Try to edit the AO, go to "Contents" and take a copy of the notecard to your inventory, also the instructions. Last AO I saw, had a line filled in for "Typing" that was blank.

There is a Scroll and Quill typing replacer, your avatar writes in the scroll instead of playing typing animation. It is somewhere in Grendal's Children, that place isn't closed?

Yes, Grendal's is still open and they have the scroll-writer type replacement you mention. I was over there looking at that only a short while ago.

I have mine off, and it stays off. BTW, MystiTool's radar puts a "T" next to the name of a typing avatar.

Hate to change the subject, but I've looked everywhere for what those letters all mean on my mysti-tool hud. Can you direct me to the proper resource? They don't list them in the notecard. Thanks

TWhen he came back the third time, I was in hysterics. He started away with that typing, and I was screaming with laughter (in RL). FINALLY, he managed to find the ENTER key.

In the end, was his message worth waiting for three times?

Oh, listen, about modifying the AO: usually you can detach it and rez a copy. You edit the copy, RENAME it, and take it back into inventory. That way, even if you totally screw it up beyond repair, you have the original. So you delete the messed up one. Make sure you deleted the messed-up one and not the original, then rez another copy and try again.

I just copy my stuff inside of my inventory. I am sure if I rezzed it I would probably lose it.

You were right - it was copyable. That saved a lot of worry.

I actually really like the typing animation cue. The animation and sound are okay I guess, but like Phil, I very much like knowing that someone is about to say something, and more importantly, that they just did. I tend to multitask with SL, and some of my friends (my Girlfriend is one).. have their typing turned off, so they can "talk to me" and I won't know it if I'm looking at a webpage.

I eventually made a script for HUD, that makes a "enter key" noise any time it hears an avatar speak. Its actually been really amazingly useful, and has helped me be better at not letting a conversation lag.

Sorry; need to revive this thread. The mermaid ao I use overrides the typing animation in hover mode (which is the most likely position for chatting in the sea). It's fine when sitting; just not when hovering.

I have a typing ao which makes it look as if my avatar's mouth is moving whilst chatting. But I'd prefer something more obvious, such as the default typing. Any ideas?

i have one in my inv, id give it to you but its no trans. its called "* Free Type Overider/Restoration *", created by abramelin wolfe. maybe drop him a message and see if he can send you one.
