Not tryng to be rude or anything, but we all would like to see some of these SL alternatives. Do you have one you recommend? Or ones we should avoid?

If he told you he'd have to kill you

I love sl to and trust me i spent so much in sl since im there and i have a wife and everything is for sl...Thecnically sl getting realy nice now, still getting some major issue sometime but i dont have much to say about it...

For me they arent professionnal at all, they dont listen us and they take advantage of the very fact that yes there alternative but sl been there for long time and people are attatch to it sentimentaly.

Trust me i dont do it with that much joy atm but i know on long terms its the right choice so far and to me its the way every single resident should take.

And i say that they dont care of us because you know just as an exemple...Who can afford 75 $ montly just for empty ocean or empty forest?rich people, dont you think its easy money to do that? me yes since its super light use and cause no problem to linden...But they realy fast realise that everyone was using it moore then what it was at start,by seeying their server statistic usage or even forum or even in world u know...
Now they come up with 67% increase to something that is already overpriced compared to the other compagny that im talking about(as alternative).Imagine people that was hardly handling 75$ montly, they will now have the choice between renting or buying...in both case they will pay moore then the price will be once increase wich is 125$ so imagine they wont get any opensim for lower then 140-145 $montly if they are lucky...So its mean they would pay half a sim to have 3750 prims and pretty laggy...

You think its intelligent ?
And im not even talking about all compagnies that already was in bisness with os sim that need to sell everything or kind of stuff like that.

I think all companies/self-employ creative business ventures have to take into account some response from their customers but they DON'T have to act upon the demands or requests of the buying public. I am involved in a business that provides a specific product. True, the whims/fashion choices of teh public are always analyzed BUT I cant allow public choice or opinion to decide my policies or art or whatever I do. They can indicat etrends but not create teh trends and push me off my course of action. I also agree with Brenda that their sales pitch has been taken literally; we own land, we have communities, we "play in the sand" with each other. But when push comes to shove I am typing on a computer, entering an on-line service and paying for that priviledge. Yes, PRIVILEDGE - NOT a right. They decide on teh rules of teh game and the arena in which we play it.

No what im talking about here is not about diciding how much is what and all that stuff
IM TALKING ABOUT 67% INCREASE all of a sudden...Do you realy need i explain it over and over or you will never get it ?

You cant offer a services on long terms services, when you buy and have to pay such montly payment, you cannot and im saying you cannot come out of nowhere and say...Its moore then what we expected now we do a 67% increase of the monthly payment...I never saw this in my life about any kind of bisness in this world you got it now ?

To my thoughts, when you buy something and have to pay montly payment, you are in a kinda contract there.I could understand some minor changes...But no one things in this world atm can explain a 67% increase only on opensim.

And even if they grandfather for about what?6months?its still bull$hit

At no point did LL offer their services on a long term basis, or make any longitudinal price promises for OSR tier rates.

price increase

I don't own land, nor sims. I am a wandering hobo.
The cheap SL lifestyle suits me. I explore and chat.
Fuel prices in UK as probably everywhere else in the world are up over 50%.
We all grumble and mutter about it, but pay up. Seems to me residents have the same choice in SL, pay up, find a cheaper alternative elsewhere or get out.
There ain't no point complaining.................
p.s. as I am a tramp, I claim first dibs of any clothes going begging..

I guess it has to be widely distributed only. If it is 2 or 3 people who have their stuff
of canceled account then they can delete it from the uuid list.
If I gave you things and deleted my account most like it would vanish
from your inventory or cease to function because you would be one of
few who has that specific item.
I am curious if others made a alt, had that alt make something have the alt sent item to one or two person something they made then n cancel the account try to find item week later to use it ir it would still be there for them? Or is it just me?

It must be just you FD
as I have stuff that my ex husband made and gave to me almost 2 years ago, that I still have and that he gave to no one else
and that I gave to no one else

and he canceled his account when he quit SL

this includes clothing item, and different kinds of textures as well as a few prim items

are you serious ?sure they dont make any kind of promesses but course in any kind of product you will pay in real life such as ur appartment or whatever even without contract...im not sure you will like a 67% increase of your appartement announced tomorow and start in 2 months..would it be fair?no!Would you like it?No!

Legaly they are maybe fully protected, but from the mouth of loads of resident at this very moment they are just ***.

You can still defend those people,i was before, not anymoore but i can understand you.
And prolly you cant understand because you arent one of those owner who have invest so much money buying multiple sims such as 8 or whatever ....only have one sim with increase of 67% its already a lot but imagine 8...

I was guessing the other world mentioned above is Open Life too. It's just celebrated its first anniversary. I belong to OL as well, as Conifer Dada and looking the same as I do in SL. OL is exactly the same as SL in its operation and graphics as it's built from LL's open source data. The main visual difference to SL is land ownership is on a whole-sim basis, so I haven't noticed any ad farms and there's less clutter. I'm just a basic account in OL, I don't own land there. I do have a secret sky hangout above a sim that appears to be disused but allows building.

Well, good luck to anyone wanting to migrate. I'm just trying it out and find it's -- HARD compared to SL. At least with the viewer I'm using. I bet a lot of folks will try it after this thread. In truth it's kind of fun to be a newb again, but I know it's just a diversion. Here is where all the cool stuff is so far.

Investing in SL has always been risky. Very few businesses make much in the way of RL profit. Anyone who has invested $2000 in the last 6 months buying 8 OS sims, knowing they were taking on a commitment of $600 per month in tier should not have done so unless they were financially secure enough to risk losing the lot. Never gamble more than you can afford to lose, and any SL business is a gamble.

Read some of Desmond's posts about how he built Caledon, step by step, never growing until he knew he had enough money coming in to cover him if the next step went wrong. That's how to develop a business, not by pouring in every penny you've got so that a rise (admittedly a big rise) in costs destroys the business overnight.

/me wonders whether Yron was forced into SL in the first place, whether he is being forced to stay here in the second and whether he is being forced to read posts that disagree with him in the third.

I dont own a business in sl - My real work demands my creative spirit. But, speaking as a young person with some success, I think one problem that I see are the amateur business owners. I am not being disparaging but I mean that regular people in real who have a business in sl - which demands investment from personal sources. Which you try and avoid in real as much as possible. That is why we have a credit crunch and why people liek me must work harder than ever to find financial backing - it's a tough world. Failures are rampant and the real world gets even harder. The real company world is tough enough and sl is just a snip of what its really like. Business failure is common everywhere, price changes are just part of reality, fashion dictates much of our success. I understand people who really work to succeed in sl much more than "floaters" who commit to very little. But landlords can charge whatever they like and if there is demand for services teh price will go up. Success is not guaranteed in real or sl.
SL is a great place to experiment with the business world. Its much safer to spend a minimal rent here than fork out huge sums in real. And this past month has been disasterous for teh global economy. Next month the sun will shine perhaps. And remember success in sl does not guarantee a positive outcome in real. Try and sell some of teh crap offered in sl in teh real world and you will soon be out of luck.

Hahaha...thats some funy one,we will see who will laught the most in a couple of months.
Lmao no doubt.Thats so funy to see that even if its obivious like a big ocean into the desert that they arent caring about yall...Look the prices compare services...god wake the hell up guys are you that stupid ?seriously...a sim in some other place,i saw at least 2 other game with the same second life system, but a sim there doesnt even cost over then 100 us montly and have 45 000 prims and their server works ** well...Ahahaha but as i said its ur choice.I prefer be a part of the upcomin better world then a part of the virtual world pionners about to fall into pieces.I got enought and i met so many people there that had enought too and they was there since sl started in 2003...

Im outta here,as i said lots of work to rebuild a better world :).

And btw nah not true, there tons of bisness thats started with crap in sl and ended up making amazing stuff....The same exact thing i saw in real life.Thats called LEARNING AND GETTING BETTER.Every bisness started small and not perfect at all.I dont know of wich real life your talking about but your not talking about the one we are living on this planet that called earth :)

1. I don't expect them to care about me, I expect them to take my money and care about their shareholders, that's their job. If they treat me badly enough I'll leave, but guess what? Not one of the big LL decisions that was going to "kill SL" has affected me negatively at all.

2. The other games do not have the "same second life system" - they use the opensourced viewer as their base for their viewer and have reverse engineered their server codes. None of them that I have seen come close to SL for stability and functionality.

3. Many of us have tried other worlds, including those using spun-off SL technology, and we're still here. None of them offer the same opportunities to be creative combined with the stability of the system, and for those who care about it, the oppotunity to make real money.

Actually, it is.

From your responses I gather I was right, loud mouth but all hot air. Just go and play somewhere else, as you already planned, but please do so quietly, if you have nothing constructive to offer.

Bye!

Alright novis, you want to talk about constructivity?Ive put some big point on the table in the last pages, what have you put so far ? just comin here saying absolutly nothing...
And its normal you dont understand what im talking about, you never been investing anything in sl and without offence you seem to be as noob as i was at my very first month in sl even though you there since 2007...oups.

What about people that talk about popcorn hm?nah you wont say that to them since you just say that because you feel attacked by someone that just express himself about his situation and try to give advice to others. If you dont want of this advice then get the hell out of this topic then since all you have to say isnt constructive.

I said what i had to say, cant help people that dont wanna help themself.

Every world is good, depending of what you are looking.I prefer leave now then later because the way linden leads sl,they wont make long time im 99% sure of that. They are pionners but the competition is there and realy fast commin be sure of that...The other game grow lot moore faster then sl ever did in terms of thecnologies...sl been here 5 years and im sure those games in not even 2 years they will be at sl level Thecnically and on other sides they will be lot better then sl because they will have learn from sl mistake.:)
They new like sl was at first but grow faster and better.

well good luck to you in your new venture..maybe one day it will have the population where people may decide to switch over more often than right now..
that is if it turns out to be close to what is here.
population will increase their prices as well as they make room for more people if enough find it.
let alone those companies will also be making changes as they grow..some good choices and some bad..just as any business does..they will sooner or later have to flow with their budget and things may be good there now and may stay good there for a while but there is also in any business the risk of extreme increases..
so just be careful and hope that the worlds economy has already hit them and they don't have to make increases..
if it has not then you may be seeing them soon..
i just know that jumping from better price to better price in an unstable market only leaves you looking at two birds in the bush and a dead duck in your hands at times.

they may be the best thing since sliced bread right now and i hope they do stay that way for you..
there is risk in business and ups and downs..increases and decreases..

competition does affect prices as well..maybe when this other place you are going to starts to make a threat to SL we will see some decreases in prices here..
until then i just couldn't see owning a business in sl and packing it up for a lessor populated version..
i would think most here would make the adjustments in their prices just like every RL business has to so it can survive..
Lindens are an RL company just as any other virtual world company..
they feel the pinch just like any other RL business and when they are forced to pay more it trickles down to everyone..
either way business is a risky thing and each makes the choices they feel are best for them..
you feel it is a good move to go to this other place..i wish you well and all the success you can find..
others feel strongly about here..i wish the same for them..

to say one will die and the other strive..well that is for the future to decide because neither has happened yet and low price or high price for things all hold a certain amount of risk..

if i were to make a choice to move it would probably be a test move while still holding my ground here..

throwing my eggs into one basket leaving a well established area for one with such a small amount of time in would be foolish of me to do..
mainly because i was raised with my father always telling me these few things..if it sounds too good to be true most times it is..or you get what you pay for..lol and most times it's been true.

Thats what i call an objective and a contructive anwser.

But im not just talking about lower price,im either talking about how the whole thing is build and in wich direction they are going to.Im not waitting it be perfect but im waitting it be better and atm its whats hapening.Price, well the price to be honnest simply go with the new thecnologie, they arent loosing money there, they are just offering realy good services that are good for us users and for them as a compagny. They will for sure make their error but they been in sl,so they know what they want and what they dont want, its fit with us the rest of sl emigrant.

so do i have to run a sim from my computer or do they have their own grid?
can i go there and make an account and it be kind of like SL is where i can go from sim to sim and shop and things like that..
i would be interested in looking around for sure..do you have a link for them?
if you don't want to post it in here you could give it to me in the forum IM's..

Personnal decision and i think you all should do the same thing or at least hardly consider it.

I think I'll take your advice and "hardly consider" it.

I don't think English is your first language (and I sure *hope* it isn't) but that one was too good to pass up.
