Suspicious source of income

It's been a while now, but I've noticed that some people around me seem to have a suspicious source of income. They have no payment info on file, yet they always wear expensive sets of clothing (from well-known stores), and change it like everyday. It's not possible to camp for like 500-1000L in a day I think, and since some of them are on my friends list I don't always see them on, so camping is out. Maybe they have alts with payment info used that send them money, to hide their identity or something? Or did copybot suddenly have the ability to rip contents out of a vendor?
What are your thoughts on this?

Maybe they are friends or even alts of the creators, and they've been given the clothes. Presumably creators like their stuff to be seen in the right sort of venues, but for one reason or another, they don't want to go out clubbing themselves.

My thoughts:

- they have alts
- they have rich friends
- they have designer friends who give them free samples
- they know what stores have the good freebies/lowbies
- they make their own stuff
- they work for their money

However, I'm not nosy enough to actually worry about the finances of my online acquaintances. for the most part, I mind my own business.

Maybe they took a loan out from one of my MicroCredit ATMs and bought the stuff? :D

Some of them are my friends, so I know they're not alts of creators or friends with owners of large shops, or work for money. The stuff I saw them wear are definitely not freebies either. So that leaves they must have alts with L$ buying history.
Oh well I was just curious that's all =P

I have an alt that does not work, does nothing but mooch off me. :) I give her Lindens, clothes, and she also makes the same clothes I make. If she sees something she likes or wants somewhere, she makes a note and tells me how much it is........I pay her what she needs so she can go buy it. :)

No mystery, really.

Well, if they're your friends just ASK them :) (although just being friends doesn't mean that you know whether or not they have alts)
Your first posts suggest that you may suspect some wrongdoing on their part. What, then, will you do with that knowledge?

If you are "suspicious" of them....why are they on your friends' list?

I've never had PIOF . . . because I've never paid real money into SL. I don't think that I have enormously expensive clothing, skins, or hair, but I certainly don't rely on freebies either. I have a modest income from my in-world business that is just enough to allow me the occasional shopping binge (as well as paying for rent and shop-related expenses). It is quite possible to survive in SL reasonably comfortably without using RL money, as I can attest: it needn't be "suspicious."

Lucky chairs, midnight mania and hunts all give people the opportunity to pick up items too, some people are extremely well versed in knowing where to go to find such items.

Lol because they're my friends?
I just never asked them where they got the money from for their clothing, because that wouldn't really be a polite question to ask. Aside from that they have all the qualities of a friend.

only one of my av's has payment info on file. I do lots of scripting, I build things, and I get payed for that. I also recieve gifts from friends, coworkers, acquaintances, etc. some av's are used to get away from the constant hounding of business, and just relax and enjoy SL... some are used for testing. some are just name placeholders that I don't really use (bad girl, yes I know). all of them have nice wardrobes, fun and useful gadgets, etc.

payment info on file is meaningless except to buy or sell L$ and then only on that av.

After all these threads about anti-inspect shields, Emerald, Show Look At, etc... I'm thinking we need to change the name from Second Life to Paranoid Life.

The reason for not wanting to go clubbing on my main is because I'd like a break from customer service occasionally...

Also, there are other places to purchase L$ than just LL's Lindex or XStreet. Some actually follow the RiskAPI that LL uses, so you're unlikely to get into trouble too.

Only two of us have payment info on file, Zessinthal and my self. Our counterparts sometimes have more Lindens on hand that either one of us.

Dependents always seem to end up with all the money.

Who do we report these no visible means of support avis to? I mean they could be drug dealers.........so the DEA? Or maybe they are counterfetters........so the Treasury Department? Maybe they are Mobsters........IRS? How about if you suspect them of being "undocumented immigrates" (God, I love that PC term :) )...........so that would be ICE?

Report them all to the FIC.
