I *must* learn to quit reading the forums during dinnertime!

Ditto. Shaved animals . . . NOT pretty . . .

*gag*

BTW, Elric, is the (discreetly) nude white fox with the tattoos you? While I've never really "got" the furry thing, it's a lovely pic! (Probably because you still have your fur.)

/me blushes a little. Yes, that's me, and thank you. I'm sometimes human, sometimes fur, always a gentleman, and seldom serious. And while a fur, I will always have fur! No shaving for this fox... no way. /me laughs

I applaud your refined sensibilities. :)

Furries SHOULD be . . . um, furry. And a degree of gentility and humour is never out of order either.

Tattooed?

Actually... here IS a question.

Is a fur without apparel naked? Some furs look "decent" without apparel, whereas others... not so much. Do adult content rules apply to naked furry parties where there is no sexual activity?

The mind begins to boggle.

Here is your answer to that question. My partner is a Satyr and was at a sl rock concert. He was asked to leave because he had furry legs and a bare human chest. He has NEVER been thrown out of any rock concert in real - and he's been to them all.
It took SL and a furry policy that stated that fur was naked skin to have him bounced outta the stadium.
I just dont see satyrs as naked. It's surreal to regard a goat, a dog or a bull as "naked". This isn't Beatrix Potter on speed.

Well, in fairness, it has to be said that satyrs have something of a bad reputation in this regard.

Were you a nymph, you might have a different perspective on this. :D

ETA: Is ancient Greek red-figure pottery "PG" do you think?

Sure it is . . .

Best quote yet! /me laughs

And... indeed. That's interesting, considering the term "naked skin", where a fur would have to be shaved to see its naked skin.

Personally I think there is a lot of grey area here, and it is next to impossible to make black and white rules regarding comparing naked humans and naked furs.

Just so long as LL does not enforce any shaving!

You know, *I* was able to resist the temptation for that particular bit of wordplay! Clearly, you are vastly weaker than I in the linguistic self-restraint department.

(Not to mention the fact that it is generally bad policy to call one's friends nymphomaniacs in public.) ;)

It's a question of balancing electrolysis and waxing and stuff like that - and an occasional tweezer. Also a electric razory thingy I picked up in Tescos (?). Razors like men use are too difficult.

Or is electrolysis when you get something silver-plated???

/me immediately reverts to human so as not to cause my fox self any further trauma from exposure to so many jarring words!

An applicable quote, one of my very favourites :

"The Muppet Show: (#2.6)" (1977):

From: someone
Sam the American Eagle: I would just like to say a few words about nudity in the world today. And I, for one, am just appalled by it. Why, did you know that underneath their clothing, the entire population of the world is walking around completely naked? Hmm? Is that disgusting? And it's not just people, although, goodness knows, that's bad enough, but animals too. Even cute little doggies and pussycats can't be trusted. Underneath their fur, absolutely naked! And it's not just the quadripeds, neither. Birds too. Yeah! Beneath those fine feathers, birds wear nothing. Nothing at all! Abs...

Scylla was a sea nymph who became monstrous and twisted. Then she got turned into a rock - it was a mercy.
In real it's one of my favourite names. I'd call a little girl "Scylla".

Scylla was described as a monster, yes, but one othat live atop a rocky crag, which for sailors was likely the real danger. Scylla is also considered the proverbial rock in the phrase 'between a rock and a hard place,' although since charybdis, the other local monster was described as a whirlpool created by its sucking mouth, it is sort of between a rock and a soft place that leads to even more hard pointy teeth :)

Yes, just added that above - she ate some of Odysseus's crewmen. Circe turned her into the monster.

She still ended up a rock, thus my suggestion stands. It also means that Sylla is no longer monstrous.. now she really rocks... she may still be a nymph at heart though.

First I've heard of that! Can you find and cite sources, please?

I call shenanigans on that one. It's preposterous and entirely unenforceable.

That doesn't mean LL wouldn't try it. But in this case they haven't.

That could be a very interesting situation.

People, people! Puh-lease!!

Scylla was no mere "rock," but a terrifying monster, transformed by that jealous bitch Circe, who poisoned the fountain at which she bathed with magical herbs:

"and no sooner had the nymph touched the place, than she found every part of her body below the waist changed into frightful monsters like dogs, which never ceased barking. The rest of her body assumed an equally hideous form. She found herself supported by twelve feet, and had six different heads, each with three rows of teeth." (L'Empriere's Classical Dictionary)

The whole "she changed into a rock" thing was a later interpolation, a pathetic attempt to ascribe her reign of terror to mere natural phenomenon.

As for L'Empriere's description, it is accurate enough, but dwells a tad TOO much on how hideous she was (in my view). After all, if two heads are better than one, what about SIX?

In any case, I'm much better now, and have the dogs controlled to the point that they hardly make any noise anymore.
