RLV works fine for me and my.........er....companion, she loves it . (Emerald I mean) , and I havent noticed any increase in crashes recently , apart from the usual SL problems , , there will be problems , as there are on all applications , simply due to the wide range of hardware it runs on , I love all the new features , oh and you can turn the AO off , just drop the AO menu and turn off "override animations" and your back to the default anims

Emerald is o.k.
I *never crashed* with the regular SL viewer, MAYBE once in weeks. I crash with Emerald multiple times a day on average about 5+. _____________________

..... The bouncing breast controls are client side, and determine if boobs jiggle on your own viewer. They don't determine if your breasts bounce on other people's viewers. ... So i'm sipping coffee and skimming down the threads... I dipped into this one, and then another. Then I came to the "Editing Layers in Emerald " thread - and for a second or two, I read it as "Editing Lovers in Emerald". _____________________

I love my Emerald... before this one- this latest crashes non-stop. I spent more time in a crash test dummy skin this weekend then back in 2006! - I went back to the previous version last night - will wait for the next one and hope it fares better. I do love some aspects of it that i am not willing to part with such as the double tap TP and radar. I cant see much use for the hide what I'm wearing thing- that is beyond laughable to me - but since I own a store, I find it good to know who comes within chat range so i can welcome them. Other than there, it makes no difference to me.

... I find the paranoia features a waste of time and resources, especially the IM encryption garbage that comes up all the time even if neither I nor the other user have it enabled. I don't care if people look at what I'm wearing, and I'm not discussing government secrets in IM. Go ahead, look at me, read my IM's... you will probably die of boredom. ... You have something set wrong. If it's turned off, it doesn't produce any annoying "encryption garbage". I'm not using OTR encryption either, but once they get the "annoyance factor" down, I probably will. I don't like the idea of some drooling LL employee reading my IMs...and I am SURE that corporations like it even less. _____________________

I haven't tested the "mirror" feature, that seems to be a way to backup your scripts, but it looks useful. I was excited about the AO, but since I couldn't easily toggle it off and on short of dragging a new config notecard into it and reloading it, will wait for the improved AO. Have to agree with Immy, I find the paranoia features a waste of time and resources, especially the IM encryption garbage that comes up all the time even if neither I nor the other user have it enabled. I don't care if people look at what I'm wearing, and I'm not discussing government secrets in IM. Go ahead, look at me, read my IM's... you will probably die of boredom. _____________________

RLVa... What the heck is RLVa? What does the "a" stand for and why do most compatible RLV attachments break when running in RLVa? Guh... FAIL! (>_< ![]() RLVa is an alternative implementation of the RLV spec. I have found it particularly good as it fixes some usability bugs regarding the management of shared folders. I have also found that the author is more open to discussing possible features and issues. It's good to have a choice. While the spec itself may be under the control of one person, having an alternative implementation will serve us all better in the long run. I recall you mentioning that a friend is having trouble getting their script to run with RLVa. I suggest you send your friend to the RLVa creator. If it's her bug she'll want to know about it. And if my communication with her is any indication, she'll fix it. _____________________

Well, its only a matter of time before LL offers the creators of Emerald a super deal like with SLX and then the independant vieuw goes poof
![]() So far I like the Emerald vieuwer, lots of extra options, very stable! And with the newest version you have extra attachments slots! like a Chest 2 - Skull 2 etc etc Great for prim avatars and other things. Even the radar can be handy to track griefers and immediately tp to them to ban them etc. yes, Emerald is without doubt the best vieuwer so far, it beats Snowglobe ![]() |

With Linden I have to have one or the other. Next time I'm in SL I will look into trying both at same time. Love, June |

Lil - thanks for the AO toggle.
![]() Lindal and Lil - Thank you for the suggestions. "Decline OTR" is checked, but I still occasionally get garbage text. In addition, if the other user closes the IM window and reopens it then I also get error messages from the OTR. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the issues reliably enough to report it with any useful information to the team. It's a minor inconvenience, anyway. The constant crashing in the latest version... major inconvenience. Maybe due to the memory leak mentioned above? Nika, I did not experience the crashing in 1.23.5 and will be rolling back to that version so I can still use Emerald. The temporary upload feature is great, and pretty well eliminates the need to go to the beta grid, yay! Another thing I forgot to mention that I love... draw distance slider in the corner. Went back to the normal viewer for a couple days and missed this terribly. |

Emerald stil has the issue with a particular series of Radeon graphics cards that the standart viewer had eliminated a few month ago. So in Emerald, everything under the waterline is black.
Hence why I looked at the Emerald viewer for 3 minutes and then deleted it again. If they fix that I may give it another try. |

Only people using Emerald will see your attachments correctly. The other night, someone asked me, "Do you know you have two rings rezzed on the floor?" No telling where those panties may end up. ![]() _____________________

What I like in Emerald is the "disable stupid blank screen while teleporting" option.

I've now found that each time I open Emerald it takes longer for the location I'm in to load, things remain grey for ages and ages before everthing is sharp.
It took so long this morning that this afternoon I went back to Linden Veiwer. Also with Emerald to open the music is getting very hit and miss of it starting. Have you noticed this too? Love June |

Fwiw, if you don't use some of Emerald's features, its performance on low-end machines is better. When you're running at 100% CPU utilization with bad graphics hardware, every client-side rendering function creates lag. I would stay away from the radar, the OTR, jiggly boobs, and even fancy-ass selection particles (actually, my lappie generally has particles off). Music or Sounds being slow to load and stuttery when playing is often a symptom of low available memory. |

No I think my graphic card is ok, Nvidia 7600 series which is well up the Linden recomended list and it is finding its own setting of High, only Ultra above.

Downloadings . . ??
11-19-2009 13:32
My RLifer lives in an area where she has no choice but to be on radio connection from one specific provider . . with a download limit and huge excess charges .
. . . however . . luckily that particular provider does not meter downloads from SL . . So . . if she uses the Emerald viewer will the downloads then be metered ? . . or is she still actually dowloading from SL ? |

Other than there, it makes no difference to me. You might take a look at Henri Beauchamp's latest version of the Cool Viewer. That's got the double tap TP and radar, too (as, I think, has Meerkat). http://sldev.free.fr for Cool Viewer; http://www.meerkatviewer.org/ for MeerKat. |
