Happy Friday Claire And thank you for being such a happy person ![]() aww shucks. is no problem. I think it is naturally programmed in - what with me being a loon and full of coolnosity and glamourosity I can't help it ![]() My weirdest moment remains being stuck somewhere far underground, unable to move, and finding myself sitting on some strange cartoon monster in the darkness. The circumstances, timing and positioning of this is so bizarre that I'm still not over it. That sounds pretty scary. who puts a sittable cartoon monster underground in the dark? And how on earth did you manage to end up sitting on it? SL can have really strage glitches. Did you know that you can see the inside of your own head? how wierd is that? Obviously there is nothing in mine, but still lol. also i seem to keep facing the wrong way - i mean my head turns backwards like an owl ![]() The coolest thing in SL is falling in love with someone on the other side of the planet ![]() ![]() _____________________

I've got the same problem ![]() Oh and you're welcome, hope to see you on my music hopping adventures ![]() ahh, but do you have your hair growing on the inside of your head? I have a big lump of hair right where my brain should be...I spose I should be glad its not cotton wool and flies... btw did you know i was a malteser? yeah, apparantly I am blonde on the inside, and a brunette on the outside - unless im wearing my pink hair of course lol. _____________________

Most amazing thing: The incredible way the forum members came together to buy land and create the Forum Hangout on Allana. It seemed to happen overnight, and this from a group of rowdy, individualistic, often cranky and contentiious folks. It proved to me that SL really IS a magical place where anything can happen, and does.
Most amazing sight: There have been so many. But Avilion Castle stands out in my mind as one of the most incredible builds I've ever seen. A lot of others seem to think so too, it's been a full sim and very lagged each time I've been there. Real people, not bots. _____________________

i still say these are the top things that have made SL wonderful for me:
Getting my first linden earning job within days of signing on to SL learning how to run a Club, the hard way, and coming out better for it Meeting my partner( and RL love) while learning how to run said Club the hard way my daughters building my very first functional piece of furniture building my second piece of functional furniture and getting compliments on it learning the ins and outs of texturing, and being better at it that building ![]() My first DJ gig. buying my first pair of Minx Boots ![]() i could go on and on but i won't, as i am still learning new things everyday! _____________________
There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

I still have it in my inventory, reminding me of what you can do on the spur of the moment and just by messing around with the edit buttons lol. My strangest moment was at Avilion with my sweetie. We hopped on a set of cuddle balls and I was transported into some weird limbo where the background went black; I could see myself "cuddling" with someone who I assumed was my BF, then I noticed the suit was all wrong - and different hair. Some other guy was in my limbo with me! My BF and I were still able to communicate via typed chat. I took a snapshot and sent it to him. He and I had a good laugh over that one. Eventually I came out of the strange limbo and all was well.

I could say the same about yours. Makes me want to go dig out the moldy volume of Tennyson I have around here someplace. lol no books for me. I heard that particular passage years ago along with one other verse, in a film thing i watched. Anne of Green Gables lol I thought it was beautiful and never thought to look it up until recently, I finally did and i thought it was so gorgeous i had to do something about it so used that verse lol. (I am a big fan of Arthurian legends and poetry and things like that)when i put my mind, and coffee, to it! Coffee is very very important to it. _____________________

the stranest moment for me was when I got a free beer from a cooler and promptly became deformed..
Most wonderful, being able to hear muscians that I would not normally have heard... this is a big plus for me, and probably if that was not available on SL i'd leave... |

Relay For Life
01-04-2008 09:21
The most wonderful event I've had the honor to participate in was the American Cancer Society's annual SL Relay for Life. My father had *just* been diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer. It was just "coincidental" that the RFL event was happening that week. I contacted the Caregiver Group, was immediately embraced by the community, and walked the Relay while listening to live feeds by cancer survivors who are residents of SL, special music, and experiencing AMAZING builds created specifically for the event.
I forget how much the L$ raised by the event translated into US$, but it was a staggering amount donated to the ACS. **Note: It is 6 months later and my father has been declared cancer free!! ~ ~ ~ The most wonderful experience in SL has been to explore and experience it daily with my amazing Partner. |

Actually .... reading Tarina and Czari's comments remind me of a few things that I will never forget.
One is the period in which a whole series of events took place in support of the RFL and the fact that I was able to do something real by selling some stuff I'd made for donations. That was a truly wonderful and humbling experience. And the Children in Need event, where amazing musicians played for many many hours, donating every Linden they were tipped to the charity. And the many other charity events that have been and still go on where musicians give up their time and tips for so many great causes. Amazing! ![]() _____________________

That's a pretty cool picture - looks like an interesting place to explore. I wish I could pick out my weirdest and coolest moments. SL constantly amazes me on both of those points. It is simultaneously the most bizarre and the most incredible place I've seen. Being involved in the hangout project from early on was one of the things I'm proudest of, although the real beauty of it came from the work of others, not from anything special I did. Some of the times I've spent hanging out and goofing off with the friends I've made have been the most special, and I think of them often. There was a shrine dedicated to the worship of chickens - that was pretty weird. Every time I log on, I see something weird. _____________________

I didn't think it was possible to build under Linden land. That's a pretty cool picture - looks like an interesting place to explore. [snip] I had myself built caves and the like, on some land I had owned. It isn't _that_ difficult. I just couldn't find the opening anywhere for this underground city. Oh, and by cave - I mean that all the "walls" of the "cave" were Linden land - with a small opening (or large) somewhere on the side. Unfortunately, I have completely forgotten how I did that. By the way, I'm still waiting on the shrine to Trout's certified. _____________________

You can just build a building then bring the land up or sink the building down, but how to get in there and walk around could be the hard bit, perhaps tp to another prim inside somehow or a script overriding the ground info somehow? _____________________

You can just build a building then bring the land up or sink the building down, but how to get in there and walk around could be the hard bit, perhaps tp to another prim inside somehow or a script overriding the ground info somehow? Oh yes, I've seen that all the time, I had also created that type of labyrinth of caves under one of my buildings But there the top level is the building. Or I mean the roof is the building. How to get in? - In mine I massaged the land so there was an opening outside of the building (and hidden by trees) and worked the land so a ramp went down into the underground area. The place I found, which no longer exists (and wasn't Atlantis hehe), actually seemed to have linden land all around it. I think I saw an opening that was covered over by a shop, but . . no . .the land was just thinest there.Wow! an underground city!! think it is atlantis? That looks brill!!! The place no longer exists. It had been on the mainland, but the builders moved to private islands. That or it had always been on private islands and I just didn't realize. Whatever the real deal is, the build was scrapped and they restarted stuff. It was below . . . this here: ![]() oh and another picture from that underground city ![]() ![]() _____________________
