Sorry Strife ... http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/oceans/whaling/great-whale-trail/gwt-vote?utm_sourHere you can vote for the name of a whale. Overwhelmingly the vote so far is for "Mr Splashy Pants" but YOU could make sure it happens. You're nice right? You like animals? Even if you're just going to eat them ...

Right, voted. Mr Splashy pants it is.
Will this stop the Japanese hunting whales in the name of 'science' and trying in vain to convince a new generation that whale blubber really is very tasty?

Mmmmmmm......whale. If only we could find a way to farm them. I too voted for Mr Splashy Pants instead of those stupid hippy names that the stoner drop-outs at Greenpeace thought up. What ever happened to kids having normal names like Jim and Alfred?

It tastes just like chicken, apparently. Only difference is that chickens are rather irritating creatures and deserve to be eaten. Atticus after the main character in To Kill a Mockingbird? How odd, I thought he was a Platonic philosopher

Atticus after the main character in To Kill a Mockingbird? How odd, I thought he was a Platonic philosopher Are we talking about Herodes Atticus, who we know existed, or the unknown author of a few scraps that we know nothing about and call simply "Atticus" for no good reason? Herodes Atticus was more of a Sophist. His father was also called Atticus, but wasn't a philosopher.

It has to be Splashy Pants. All those other names are ridiculously pompous New Age crap.

Herodes Atticus was more of a Sophist. His father was also called Atticus, but wasn't a philosopher. Did I really have to mention all the Atticuses (Attici?)? I was talking about the guy - indeed only known from a few scraps and references in other's works - who accused Aristotle of being an atheist. I've always preferred Aristotle anyway. Plato was a real tightass.

voted Mr Splashy Pants. Its the only even remotely viable optional. Can't imagine a whale being called any of the other hippy-like suggestions. (no offense meant to any actual hippies lol)

xxcxx Even if I have been lead astray in this information, yes you should if only to make her confront her prejudices Personally I guess I am nearest Nietzsche. I am not proud of that fact, but we are what we are. At least I don't LOOK like Nietzsche - I think it was the fact no one would boff him that made him so cantankerous.

Voted for Mr. Splashy Pants. If that wins everyone who voted for it will one day be haunted by that whale for giving it such a screwy name.
