I chuckled when thongs became mainstream. I thought...geez, I spent my entire childhood trying to make sure my panties did not end up in..um..my bum, and now there are clothing items designed to do that very thing???

(and I get how they are great for avoiding the whole visible panty line issue...AND my avie wears thongs all the time inworld..well, not all the time...heh.)

The picture is nothing more then 2 amost nude people. Where nudity is perfectly natural, people find a picture like that more disturbing, then a picture about a shot person. To be honest I cannot relate the picture to porn stars, but your reaction isn't that weird: this is how people think nowadays.

At this very moment there is a tv commercial going in the Netherlands, about a mom and kid in the yard of their brand new house, when mom covers the eyes of the child so he (or she) cannot see the neighbours, who happen to be naked (and around 50-60ish). Commercial for an insurance company. Go figure that.

Maybe too serious for this thread, but how on earth could it ever happen, that a nude body has become disturbing????? And violence became very acceptable? Really, I don't get it. I don't.

Marcel, I was just thinking about this the other day - less about the issue of nudity and more about the issue of acceptable levels of violence on TV.

I was watching a TV miniseries...a remake of "The Andromeda Strain" (for US types, it was on A&E).

The level of violence was unbelievable!!! For example, there was one scene where a guy just took a chain saw and cut off his own head. This was A&E, mind you.

BUT!!! The censors felt the need to bleep out the word "ass."

Well, I've just spent the better part of a day catching up on this damn thread! Although it is a perfect post-Disneyland-with-3-young-children activity.

I've had many house guests since Sunday evening, most have gone home, but my sister is still here. So tonight we're recovering from overload, she's reading a book and I'm in a different room catching up on some SL time. Tomorrow, some sisterly bonding shopping for a special occasion dress.... It's been an unexpectedly nice week, although the occasion of the gathering was not a happy one.

I've always called it 'butt floss' .

When I was younger, only the 'bad girls' wore thongs. Now a lot of girls are wearing them in middle school and even more in high school - and it is considered the norm.
