3Ring, isn't it sad how weird our society became? The picture is nothing more then 2 amost nude people. Where nudity is perfectly natural, people find a picture like that more disturbing, then a picture about a shot person. To be honest I cannot relate the picture to porn stars, but your reaction isn't that weird: this is how people think nowadays. At this very moment there is a tv commercial going in the Netherlands, about a mom and kid in the yard of their brand new house, when mom covers the eyes of the child so he (or she) cannot see the neighbours, who happen to be naked (and around 50-60ish). Commercial for an insurance company. Go figure that. Maybe too serious for this thread, but how on earth could it ever happen, that a nude body has become disturbing????? And violence became very acceptable? Really, I don't get it. I don't. Marcel- I too did not find the picture in the least bit disturbing. I thought it a lovely picture in fact. I suppose the shoot may or may not be problematic to the child- but I am reminded of watching Starship Troopers with a girlfriend and her young nephew long ago. The scene where the Bugs ate people's brains and folks got blown in half... that was ok for her to let him watch... but when there was the shower scene, she made him leave the room...

People go into hysterics over 2 seconds' worth of naked nipple but they watch news reports of blown-apart bodies along dusty roadsides with barely a sigh. They rant and rave about family values and the moral destruction of their children, perhaps not realizing that the average 8-year old is NOT watching the Superbowl but can most certainly hear mothers screaming over dead babies on the 6 o'clock news. Allright, not every human body is pretty to look at, but disturbing? Come on. Well I saw some people at nude beaches.... never mind  This particular picture probably was disturbing because there was a child on it. Since when are naked children disturbing? Probably since the witchhunt against child abuse. Which brought us to an era where fathers cannot even take a bath with their children, withour risking to be arrested. At some days this is making me pretty sick. Now is a day like that. And that on a friday.... _____________________

A lot of the mores are the result of relifious sensibilities going back to the original Puritans, and carrying on to the fundamentalists and what is called "Middle America". I think the point that 3Ring is trying to make Marcel, is that the Mum might regret letting her daughter appear nude for pictures that are distributed across the internet when her daughter starts to do that for a living when she grows up, often that leads into porno type photoshoots in those instances. Hey Gabriele Probably that was ment, but even then I really miss the point. The child is bare chested, nothing more. Do you really think that when a picture of a bare chested child appears in a magazine, the cover of which appears on the internet, the girl ends up in porn business? Well I really doubt it. I am so jealous. We've always had Labs, but German Shepherd Dogs are another favorite of mine. We'll probably never own one, because they require quite a lot of attention. They're extremely intelligent, and aren't happy unless they have some sort of job to do. If you don't give them a job, they'll invent their own -- rearranging all your shoes, eating the siding off the house, terrorizing the mailman... Our youngest Lab has an almost GSD-like level of intelligence and drive. He's the best dog we've ever owned, but he is a real handful. He knows how to open locked doors. _____________________

@Brenda: Funny thing is, that you are doing the same as the ones censoring... which shows how much we all are brainwashed. Nudity has nothing to do with sex!!! I can pretty wel have sex with my clothes (partially) on, and I can pretty well look at a naked person without thinking about sex. In fact, I think just as much about sex when looking at a dressed women, then at a naked women. Figure that one out _____________________

Parents do have to be extremely careful how they allow their children to appear in things such as magazines. Also much depends on what type magazine too. I don't. the disturbing part is that a parent would teach their child that nudity on film is degrading, and would put their child in such a situation. that child does not know better, but mom does or she wouldn't have her boobs covered up. who says nudity has become more disturbing than death? but you have to admit, one incites good feelings in a person, the other - bad feelings. both ----> extreme feelings. i'm not sure how they compare. _____________________

I do not think that 3Ring was saying there was anything pornographic about that photo just that the girl might grow up feeling that selling pictures of herself naked is OK, then end up in porno's due to pursuing that career and all because she did it with her Mum when she was a young girl. Now I am not saying there is anything wrong pursuing that type of career but many Mums do not want their daughters doing that and in this case may not realise where it could lead her daughter. 3Ring if I got that wrong, I am sure you will tell me VVyou got it right, actually . _____________________
