I don't beleive that 3Ring was really making an issue about the nudity you know, it is more that combined with the public distribution of the image. If the girl had appeared topless at home, or even on a nudist beach I doubt 3Ring would have felt the same.

The point is that those images are sold to a magazine.

Also it is not about sex but selling naked pictures of yourself often leads to being asked to participate in more sexual based photo shoots.


Giving 3Rings reaction to your (good) posting, it IS about the partial nudity, how else could we explain the reference to a possible carreer in porn.

Your point about the images being sold to magazines is quite valid though. But it goes for any picture of a child, since the child has no saying in it. Goed for child starlets on TV, in commercials, and in magazines.

To be fair, I took 3Rings posting as an opportunity to rant about the witchhunt against nudity in general, and espacially when kids are involved. Nudity is not weird, nor disturbing, and perfectly natural. So in my opinion, either the publication of children in pictures is not a good idea, or the picture in question is not disturbing at all. In no way the fact that the child has a bare chest, should count in this.

Wow, how a serious topic for on a friday!

On a sidenote: I am at the moment developing a web portal for a swedish branch of the company hiring me as a consultant. And that on a Viva Las Sweden Day :D

I kinda realised you wanted to get that off your chest and actually I agree with you, there is generally too much repressed angst about it - society is becoming strict over the wrong things. Morning Bec, I am inworld at the moment and apart from things seeming a bit sluggish, everything seems OK.

The nude body being a problem comes from our puritan origins, I think. I love going to places like Saint Martin, where the body is not considered taboo.

As to the violence being acceptable, unfortunatley that has become a matter of acclimation - we see so much of it that we just start getting immune to the horror. Sad really.

LOL! I call it "dental floss" - and truthfully? I don't really find it all that appealing on men..or on women, for that matter.

I chuckled when thongs became mainstream. I thought...geez, I spent my entire childhood trying to make sure my panties did not end up in..um..my bum, and now there are clothing items designed to do that very thing??? :)

(and I get how they are great for avoiding the whole visible panty line issue...AND my avie wears thongs all the time inworld..well, not all the time...heh.)
