That's cool, Clover. I'd love to put a carousel on Cape Able but am afraid of the scripts and prims.

And, of course, your opinion is so much more important than the dozens of others who are sick to death of Pep, and (at this moment) of you... It seems that ordinary politeness would have dictated a cessation of these back and forth posts, as you have been told over and over again, by many posters that they find this ongoing conversation distasteful. At least you could have kept it out of the Thread... Mari's analogy of a brawl at a party is apt.

Bah! I know there's no point to this post, you all will do what you do, having little to no regard for the feelings of others.

Sorry, Allegria. I truly am.

But when it comes to my personal conduct, yes, my opinion IS more important -- to me -- than anyone else's.

You can put me on "ignore" if you wish. And I for my part WILL try to keep it out of this thread. Not only do I think that this is a fair request, but I'd prefer it too, as I enjoy this thread on those admittedly rare occasions when it is Pepless.

What's this got to do with anything?
/me squints to see if there's an on switch for "Pep"'s brain.

She means we're going round and round with you, but not getting anywhere.

(Sorry, but that was amusing. I'll go back to being quiet now . . . :) )

Let me lay out some points here.

I have an opinion that most people do not like. I am OK with that; I would actually be botherd if many people did agree. I expressed it once. I reaffirmed it once when it was questioned. Otherwise ... why bother since it is an opinion and I am not likely to change anyone’s mind.

My opinion has been stated by someone else 5 to 10 times per day for the past week. The search function is there. Look it up if you want to verify it yourself.

There is no moderation of these threads. There is no consequence for actions. The worst that will happen is a single thread is locked, yet there is no recourse for continuing in another thread.

For this forum to remain cival, we need to "self-moderate." It is up to the individual to stay PG, or post in the appropriate forum. For the most part, we have. However, someone has not. Someone has no self control and can not govern his/her actions. They do not have the ability to restrain themselves. It just flat out can not be done.

Excuse the metaphor, but there is a cancer in forum. It is growing and it will not stop until the forum is dead. It can not stop. It does not possess that ability. Without the power to remove it, there is only one inevitable conclusion.

A long time ago, this troll would go a week or more without incident. Then something would set them off on a row for 3 or 4 days. It has since escalated to a constant, daily attack. Even the helpful posts are concluded with insults. The cancer has grown. It is malignant. It will be the death of these forums.

There is no moderation but that which we apply ourselves. If we do not apply it ... /me shrugs.

Pep does not give a shit if these forums get closed. Meanwhile, I have watched my home and yours become the back ally of a turfwar. Maybe if we ignore it, it will go away.

That is the only solution.

Those of you who insist on playing Pep's little games need to decide what is more important to you. Pep or valuable contributing members of the forum who will leave because of him.

All I have to say is, if the RA forums did get closed without notice, say, *today* I'd say I don't blame LL a bit.

*sigh*

Am I really the only one who who finds the idea of deliberately and collectively blackballing someone to be a little . . . questionable, at least? As a tactic?

I will readily grant that Pep has already driven people away from this forum: I've spoken to some of them. He has come close to driving ME away, on a couple of occasions that I can think of.

I will grant that Pep's conduct here is frequently -- perhaps even mostly -- uncivil, intolerant, and destructive.

I will entirely concede that his endless self-serving repetition of Rhonda's (to my view, very unfortunate) comments is not merely boring but also destructive.

The fact that I DO sometimes find redemptive qualities in Pep is, in a sense, irrelevant. What is relevant is that I just can't see myself joining in on a kind of collective ostracism. Everything about this kind of tactic repels me, to be honest. I'm sorry.

I will, however, as promised, refrain from responding to or quoting him here, in this thread. And I will do my very best NOT to help him derail other threads.

No you are not. I still respond to him occasionally and quote him now and then, though I usually do not quote the nasty stuff just cuz I see no reason to repeat it.

If this were a forum dealing with serious RL issues and someone showed up spewing insults at folks, I'd be one of the first to be reporting them and requesting that they be banned. However, I view the SL forums a lot different than many online venues, mostly because the forums are very intricately tied to our fantasy SL world. So, I ignore the nasty crap in much the same way that I ignore the too-cheerful-happy stuff -- scroll on past.

Sometimes, ignoring something is a silent acceptance or agreeing -- but, sometimes it is similar to turning the other cheek in an effort to be the better person and not get pulled in to the drama.

I think I have about a dozen full size carousels that I won in lucky chairs from a mall last year. Now that I have larger land, I may rez one or two for parties now and then. I've no idea how primmy they are or what their script usage is like.

Right, although I don't think Jumpy. Jumpy's character is inspired, and his performance verges on an art form. I think Pep comes nearest to Conan Godwin, except Conan had a much broader repertoire of rants and demonstrated a healthy sense of humor about himself without breaking character. He certainly got a lot of people wound up, though.
Conan was fun - I miss him.

Maybe if he came out with a line of skins or something...

I put him on my ignore list a long time ago. I don't understand why everyone doesn't, but if they don't want to, that's their choice.

I'm asking that stop playing his reindeer games. If that can be done without putting him on everyone's ignore list, great.

Yeah, maybe . . .

(Actually, I don't believe in silencing there either, but that's a whole other issue . . .)

I'm asking that people not help him continue to ruin the forum by playing his reindeer games.

Maybe Lil's approach is a sensible one?
