Which should hardly be surprising coming from a feminist. *sigh* The problem is -- and I KNOW that this applies to me as well, as a feminist who can get quite snippy when feminism is attacked -- that people find it difficult to "discuss" things into which they have heavily invested part of their own identity. And so it suddenly becomes a screaming match. I don't want to get into a screaming match. And I really don't want people to feel that I am attacking or insulting them personally. But surely it must be possible to DISCUSS things without it becoming that? Otherwise we are all left smiling blankly, too afraid to talk about anything lest someone be offended.  ETA: It's WAY too late for the duct tape, Brenda. I think you may need to find a safe house, and a new identity for me. _____________________

The thread was well on its way to being the Friday thread before then anyway, what with starting out with male/female transgender, BDSM and peanut butter being thrown around.
