@ Brenda - Las Vegas question. Have you ever stayed at Harrah's? My best friend is throwing herself a 50th in Vegas in a few months, and he decided that Harrah's is the hotel she'd like us all to say in (group of the girls going to all meet up there for a long weekend). I've only stayed at the Venetian - yea, I know, hoity-toity, sue me - we'd gotten amazing deals on it every time we went ![]() Any idea? Or anyone else of course ![]() I stay at my timeshare in Vegas. I go to Vegas a lot because my son lives there. BUT, about Harrah's. A club I am in was holding a convention in Vegas, in 2008, I was on the committee because I live 'fairly' close and because I know Vegas fairly well. Harrah's was one of the hotels 'courting' the convention. With Harrah's it depends on what you're looking for. It's a very 'fun' hotel as far as proxmity to a lot of fun stuff, like the chocolate place, and othe stores. But I remember the incredible smoke walking through the casino, I thought the place was on fire, I don't think they have enough vents, lol. The rooms very very.......*shrug*. A place to hang your hat and move on. Not a place to hang out and luxuriate, but adequate. So if you're looking for fun surroundings, things to do, etc, then yeah Harrah's would be probably good, as well as pretty central to things. Other than that it's pretty blah. |

...On TV chefs, I'm a Bobby Flay girl myself. And even though he's a bit hackneyed, I still get a Bam! out of Emeril. He's a prick and I love that. ![]() _____________________

Other than that it's pretty blah. /me sighs I'm somewhat spoiled, I admit it. I'm concerned but if I go the whole point is to have fun with friends, so I think I'll have to get over it. The smoke factor - can't get away from it no matter what. It's a huge problem for me too. The newer hotels seem to have taken care of that problem pretty well, but I have noticed in the older ones you just have to deal with it. The good thing is this group of woman are big drinkers and I'm not. So, I'm thinking by mid-evening they'll be rather plastered and not even notice if I take off to do my own thing if need be ![]() /sneaks off to fancy schmancy Bellagio instead _____________________

I usually stay at Flamingo because the rates are good, the rooms are comfy and clean but not overly opulent and it's centarlly located. When in Vegas I spend sittle time in the room, so i really don't need a luxurious place. depending on the length of stay, I am usually out of town totally for one night either in Laughlin or some other place, or if time permits I drive to Glelndale AR to visit my Uncle. Also like the Flamingo because of the historical perspective of it.
When I stay on the strip, I rent a car on an as needed basis for an out of town trip, but when I use the timeshare, which is way out on the end of Tropicana Blvd, I have a car for the entire stay. Now if you can get a great rate on a fancy room, go for it! ![]() _____________________

This weather sucks. We were in the mid 70s yesterday and we are currently at 37 with rain. Should provide for a nice layer of ice under the snow for tomorrow morning's commute to work.

Food Porn! It all looks good except for the brownie. It looks like an old piece of beef. BTW, eating a brownie in one of my lounge chairs makes for a perfect day. _____________________
