Nah, I didn't drink anything yesterday.

Hello from work land people of the bed/and or day off. What was it when I went to bed, 3:45 am? Had to work today but was going to sneak a day off. Popped out of bed at the crack of 7 (normally waking up at 5:30 or 6 or whenever). Arrived an hour late, but arrived at work. I only have 6 hours I could have used as vacation and I didn't want to have to make up 2 hours in the few days left in this pay period. This is like when it is late at night and I become more chatty. Sometimes. Sometimes my natural pain to talk normal feeling deepens when tired.

By the way, your pictures appear to be X's this morning Maureen. Well one, the catwoman one, was an image hosted picture.

So... on Christmas, we had this couple over for lunch. Very good friends, AND the parents of my one real-life friend in SL.

My friend's mother sits down with me and says, "What is Second Life? How does it work?"

I explain as well as I can, with some kibitzing from my family...

I'm wondering whether she's worried about her son or what...

Hoping that certain questions don't come up...

It turns out to be completely innocent. She'd seen somewhere that a girl was making RL income from SL and wanted to know how that was possible.

I explain about lindens, about making things, about selling things...

I tell her about the linden exchange.

We ran through the following loop a couple of times. I gave a slightly different answer each time, until I finally hit one that worked.

She: All right, all right, I get all that! But tell me, how does this girl get the money OUT of Second Life?

Me: There's a currency exchange. She goes to a website and turns it into dollars.

She: But how does she get the money out of the game?

Me: She goes to a website where she can make an exchange. She turns the lindens into dollars.

I still have to send the guy an email to warn him... I offered to set up two computers and sit down with his mother, set her up with an account, and show her around.

You actually have to prove your age for that one, and last I saw the login process was borked. One of the user made viewers pulled their viewer as a protest. Or something like that. I could be wrong.

I don't really mean it since of course that is there to protect the kids from predator types- my idea was to give the mom a g version of sl :) so she wdnt hassle her kid- regardless of age,w e are always kids to mom and dad- mine keeps coming to my room when my light is on after midnight!

I had a slight accident when I tried to take Santa's sleigh for a ride today. I mean, it is Friday after Christmas, he won't need it for a whole year. So I thought . . .

oops.

Good morning all, glad to see everyone had a nice holiday although it seems Lexxi has started off her next year's "naughty or nice" list in a very bad way

Our day was just as we hoped; quiet and filled with good food and much cheer. Wish I'd taken a picture of my turkey - it could have won "Holiday Bird of the Year" award, that's how perfect looking it was.

Had a bit more celebration than I anticipated when I remembered I had a bottle of De Bortoli 2005 Botrytis Semillion desert wine in the fridge, just begging to be opened. Realized it would go wonderful with the Lemon Meringue tart, so that ensured my going a bit overboard. However, I awoke NOT needing that "hair of the dog" Maureen so generously provided us. A big YEA for preventative migraine medication :D

On a sad note, I too was bummed to hear about Eartha Kitt. Kittahs everyone mourn her, along with those who truly admired her for that amazing voice and the spunk and sexiness she exuded. Meow, indeed ;)

My wife wanted to buy me a 52" LCD TV for Christmas. I told her I didn't think it was a good idea to spend that kind of money right now since the company I work for is not doing very well. Not sure if I should be happy that she listened to me, which hasn't happened often in the past 28 yrs I have known her, or sad that I didn't get the TV. :p

Did have a great Christmas though, except for no sl. :(

My men have left for Texas but only made it to Ft. Laud so far. Hope they packed adequate warm stuff-

Been missing SL too thru the holiday- glad I will be there soon though- headed for home three-ish.

For xmas in RL I got a really pretty music box that plays Xmas tunes and other classic stuff- like Strolling thru the Park and similar :) That one i opened before xmas. Then for for Xmas I got bath goodies and a new bluetooth ear thingie. In SL I got a gorgeous aquarium with swimming fishies and plants :) Easier to keep the than RL ones!

OK.. back to avoiding work...

And I just noticed the date on that last book - just how the hell is a student supposed to get a book that is suppose to be published in 2009 for a term that starts 1 1/2 weeks into 2009?

A quick hallo to all the Threadies. I'm at my mother's house. Going to the hair stylist for the first time in 6 months! My hair is so long and unruly, it's taking over my head. Ta everyone!

Hugs,
O

God! Could you imagine buying just *one* of those books, only to discover that it was boring?
