Granted, I was supposed to leave your ears. Or was it your eyes?

So gang, here's the question.

I've been thinking lately, and it seems like "International House Of Style" is just Waaaaaaay too long. Should I officially shorten my shop's name to "IHOS" or "Tempel House" or something? Or should I stick with what I've got because it's recognized?

You know that "IHOS" will be pronounced, "I-HO'S", right?

How about, "House Tempel"?

*giggles insanely* "I-HO's".

I like International House of Style, but I do find that I have to go through a lot of keyword hunting to figure out how to get there. Not exactly certain what is going on there.

or eventually crashing the forums when it chokes trying to index this thread =X

I suppose it could be the impetus for LL actually fixing them.... or closing them, ya never know

Ears, so he can hear the anguished cries of the children frightened by his appearance.

There is a lot to be said for name recognition. If you consider changing, what about International Style? It is shorter, but keeps the 'international' part which I think is important.

Reminds me of Pancakes.

While I agree that name recognition is imperative, I think your name is key - so I vote for Tempel House and a blitz of advertising to let your existing customer base know.

(The) Style Tempel

Tempel is no longer available as a surname as far as I can ascertain, and there is no-one with Style as a first name with that surname

/Tempel of Style would also be good
//Most people can't spell "temple" correctly anyway!
///Just realised why I like "The Style Tempel" - it sounds like "The Style Council"

Tempel of Style is a fabulous suggestion. But, I think losing "International" would be a shame, since your place is unique as far as I know, Oryx, in the vast range of parts of the world represented in it. Maybe calling your shop Tempel of Style but having International in the parcel name is a good comprise? Something like "Tempel of Style - International Couture" or something like that.

I think in either case it would be worth the effort.

Ugh. I just realized that if I changed the name, everyone's picks/links/LMs will be out of date and I'll fall off the planet as far as Search is concerned...

If you just go with Tempel House or House Tempel, I think many will skip over it thinking it a religious place. So I think it needs the word Style -- maybe Couture, but I think that word is overused and sounds somewhat pompous. And I definitely think your vast coverage of the international world is important to note.

So yeah, I think International Style or Style International are the best options to keep it short, but ensure the name indicates something to the consumer.

If they have you listed as a Pick, then they are probably in your group -- send a notice offering something worthwhile for them to all come and reset the Pick.

Do the LMs in my inventory affect Search? If not, no real worries there because the location is not changing.

Also maybe something extra if they bring a friend. A referral bonus type thing.

Good suggestions, all. Where's Phil The Search Expert when you need him? I'll have to think about this. Maybe after the holidays. :)
