I'm celebrating something I was afraid I'd never see in my lifetime - the election of a person of color as president of my country. And the election of a president who's successful campaign suggests he can inspire, organize, and lead with hope and courage rather than fear and anger. _____________________ |

But it is an important event from a historical standpoint, and hopefully a sign of the old ways of categorizing people being thrown out. |

This morning I found a Limericks thread there, and came up with a little ditty about a very popular poster over there. Well.... ....over lunch inspiration has struck about a number of fine folks over here as well. If anyone has any problem being the focus of a limerick, let me know and I'll skip over you. But...since begging forgiveness is better than asking permission, one lucky contestant wins being first....(remember this is all in fun! and no limes were harmed in the making of these limericks) Maureen is the best of the best Every morning she goes on a quest To the threadies it's said She brings breakfast in bed And libations to those who are stressed _____________________ Well between your fingers and that magical device, you work wonders. If you've seen the film, V wears the above mask. Its based on a popular likeness of Guy Fawkes: And everything he does is based on the ideals guy fawkes represented to him. All the way through its counting down from one Nov 5th toward the next and what he will do then. It starts by him blowing up the Old Bailey, and ends with the blowing up of Parliament. While its not based on the life of guy fawkes, its based on the memory of what he attempted to do and use that memory to overthrow an opressive government Or at least thats how I interpreted it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_for_Vendetta_(film) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunpowder_plot http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_fawkes _____________________ I'll miss this damn place.
