how is that "cool"?, its not, anyone that finds greifing cool, needs to have their head checked, its hacking, and i do not support it, its annoying! Don't you get it? Griefers will keep on griefing you only because you find it annoying and show displeasure at them. They CAN'T do any real damage to you. So ignore them, just go away somewhere else, log off, take a walk outside, water a plant, whatever it takes to take your mind off this thing. You fell right into their trap. The typical griefer aims as getting a rise out of you, so mentally blocking them out is usually your best defense, they get bored and find an easier target. Even reacting to them really calmly it they are persistent works, again when they see they are failing to get a rise out of you even with persistence they get bored and leave. If you flip out at them, or say you won't log back in till they are gone they will just target you as you will give them the attention they crave. |

It is quite true it is important not to let them get a rise out of you, and ignoring can sometimes be an option - provided you are writing out ARs for every ARable offense they commit while you are doing your waiting. But it is not always a realistic option.
If you are hosting a live event, waiting them out is not an option - the event is ruined. If you have a club, sitting around while they drive your customers away and destroy your business is not an option. If you are a shopowner and a griefer is harrassing your customers to drive them out, either the customers or you "tping away" is not an acceptable outcome. If you are a furry, as the OP evidently is, you may well be subject to continual harrassment by people who appear to be emotionally disturbed and are getting their positive reinforcement out of the act of assaulting furries to demonstrate their homophobia to themselves and will continue it regardless of what you do; getting a rise out of you is just icing on the cake - sitting and waiting will not get you a good result. If you, like many people, have a RL and can only spend limited periods of time in SL, sitting around for the couple of precious hours you have while some neurotic adolescent hovers, waiting for you to make a move, is not an acceptable option. If you are working on a build of any sort, that requires concentration, and time, and you do not have all day, waiting is not a good option and neither is "going somewhere else." I can paint more scenarios for you, but I think you get the picture. If waiting them out works, fine. If not, it is then necessary to drive away the griefer; make his life so frustrating and unpleasant that he is the one who "tp's away or logs off." And always AR, fully and well. In fact, the ultimate objective is to make SL so inhospitable to griefers most or all of them decide there are better places to grief and go there. Enabling them here is not the answer. |

last week i ran into a luskwood vendor showing the snow bigcat avi, thought it was cute and bought it, found some clothing to match and threw a sword around the shoulder to finish the look
kept the avi on while continuing to look around for hours, busy placed, empty places and no remarks any any comments as of being a furry decided to have some fun with the morons under us and went to known shitholes like welcome area`s and sandboxes, u know what i got? nothing, not a single word besides the furry part, griefers target mostly the new ppl who can`t defend them selfs as after u`ve been here for awhile, u ruine their fun by trashing them sad part is, they are every where, specially at times u don`t want to deal with them and not end the trip heh _____________________

So there is a subset of homophobe griefers with head problems who, knowing this, are obsessed with persecuting furries in general. It's gay-bashing. One of the posters said they quit playing the game the minute they found out they left in "Non-human" characters such as the Kajit and Argonians as it "was not normal". I enjoy the loudmouthed ones more, because having the inteligence of a 14yo, you can just talk them continually into corners till they look so dumb to their friends and all around and when it becomes apparent THEY are everyone elses toy they just leave. _____________________

The thing about greifers is most of them are most likely 13 year old boys and girls looking for the next combat game. Maybe they get neglected in Real Life, so they come onto a virtual world to be a bully. Or maybe they just want to exploit 4chan, YTMND, and whatever other networks out of pure immaturity.
But maybe they arent children, maybe they are people who take the possibilities of this game, and roust it into their own speculative idea. They think they can buy a gun and shoot everyone, because they dont acknowlage that this game has rules, and they can make it whatever they want -- Your World, Your Imagionation. But mainly these greifers are probably secondary characters (alts). Maybe they want to have some fun, and laugh at people, so they rez a bunch of spaming, greifing objects in a sim, just to pester and annoy other residents. And if you havent noticed, most of the greifing has been done in Linden owned estates. This is because of two reasons -- Alot of traffic, No policing. And yes, most linden owned sims are RARELY policed, because there isnt anyone patroling them, and the lindens will only come if enough Abuse Reports are filed. The best thing to do is get out of the area, and try and stay away from the greifers as much as possible. If you get IMs (Which rarely happen), mute the person, if you get spammed with sound, mute the person, and if the objects are just annoying, file an abuse report and get the heck out. Try and stay away from Linden owned sandboxes -- And file as many abuse reports and support tickets as you possibly can Farewell, and good luck against greifers _____________________

It depends on the griefer all up, guaging are they regulars or disposable alts, are they willing to risk banning an AV that they put a n amount of effort into etc. _____________________

I admit, the one really nice thing about being a land owner is dealing with the occasional griefer. There are a lot of fun games one can play with griefers if one is a landowner.
My personal favorites: The "How fast can I set my land to damage," game. To play, set your land to damage, because if it's set that, then the offending party can't AR it when you decide to send them home the most entertaining way possible. And the "Dress up game," where upon you freeze the offending party and then have your friends whip out the most horrible prim pieces imaginable. Keep the person frozen for as long as it takes.. and make it well known that you are actually laughing at them. See, another thing griefers hate most is you laughing at them. It's NOT COOL and they don't have anything good to brag about to their friends. Like the time that there was a griefer in one of the Linden sandboxes where I was building a 'throne' for grins. Well, he proceeds to sit on it while I was working and shoots people as they go by. I simply tell him, "Could you please move, I'm wanting to connect the piece to the object." He laughs and refuses. Oh, by the way, if someone is sitting on your object and you decide to take it into your inventory.. the reaction is very very entertaining. _____________________

It would be nice to build a griefer trap door device like the kind in old cartoons. Or maybe you could coax them into sitting on something (by a big show of trying to concentrate on it) and then just set the z coordinates to about 600? That would be fun. No orbiting, no AR's.
