I just hope she starts eating sooner than later, never thought of LL as a lady before.

But then who cares as long as she eats everyone who pokes her!

ERm did I just say that?

Anyone with a praying mantis avatar maybe be a bit worried now :D

New development

Some good news.

Well a little bit anyway, the badly cut up 1/2sim I mentioned of earlier, has improved slightly.

A land dealer has bought one of the 64sqm strips and joined it to their 512 near me within the sim.

The cutter who seems to be responsible for carving up the land has now rejoined all of their remaining parcels consisting of 64sqm strips 512's and other various sizes all together, making a very strangly shaped parcel of over 11000sqm.

This seems curious as it can only make the parcel harder to sell.

As the property lines look a real mess with the large parcel being spead out over the whole 1/2sim, I am now wondering if the Lindens had some involvment in forcing the land to be relinked.

YaY =)

If the joined 11,000m is for sale then probably the Tier is killing the owner if they got similar parcels all over the mainland. Mainland sales at the bottom end are ticking over but the cut-your-way-to-riches scheme is not viable anymore. The new policy is going to shake a lot of the hope-to-be barons out of the bottom I think.

And maybe that particular owner got a message from LL as well.

Land search of 16 sq. m. parcels
02-28-2009 21:21
Okay, call me obsessed, but i just did a search of all 16 sq. m. parcels in the price range of 320 L to 20,000 L ( thats 20 L/m to 1250 L/m).

There are as of 10 minutes ago, 13,562 16 sq. m. parcels in that price range.

That's 216,992 sq. m. of JUST 16 sq.m. extortion parcels - there is probably an equal amount of 32 sq. m. extortion parcels (someone else can do that).

How are the conversations with the micro-barons going, I wonder?

What I find puzzling is that the very largest and worst offenders are still operating exactly as before--there's just been no change at all for them. And it's unclear to me that Linden "discussions" have in any way influenced the few little guys who've made some modest changes to some of their microparcels.

I'm hoping that LL hasn't really talked to anybody yet, because otherwise this is the least effective policy ever.

LL is known for crawling along, but I bought a 32m piece a couple of days ago, at not not too bad a price, that had been there since I bought the land 2 years ago. It used to be used for a stack of ads until the ads rules came in. So maybe they are talking, but very slowly.

I think you're totally wrong but the reason I'm posting is just to say that LL have been talking to people. Or at least harmony talked to me for a bit about some of my stuff. She seemed pretty easy to fob off and didn't really insist on anything though.

Thanks for that information. (And I sure hope I'm wrong about the policy being totally ineffective.) I wondered how your chat went (mentioned at Jack's office hour), but always supposed they wouldn't have much reason to be all that insistent in your case.

I'm wondering whether you have other evidence of something actually happening as a result of this policy. I imagine that the Flock would quickly notice if/when the micro-cutting stops and they don't find any of that stuff to buy anymore. Or if they're getting lured to long-ago cut microparcels that the owners are dumping after a chat with a Linden.

The thing is, there's a pretty complete sampling of each of the large-scale micro-barons in and around sims where I have land, so I try to keep an eye on them. The *only* change I've seen is that one of the former TAG guys finally set a 16 for sale so I bought it--at a price well above anything that would tempt the Flock but not too outrageously over market. But he's got others not affected in other sims where I have land, so I'm led to doubt that it had anything to do with a Linden chat. And anyway, his total holdings are minuscule compared to... well... the big few, who've just done nothing that I can detect, and I was supposing the discussions might start with the worst offenders.

[EDIT: Well, just got back in-world and saw a notice from Arbor about a very large change--not one I particularly expected and not one I considered particularly urgent, but large nonetheless. I'm eager to help both parties any way I can.]
