Just woke up and returned to this thread since my last post. Whoa! Lots of discussion going on

From: Gabriele Graves
Hey Cole, lighten up and give Czari a break. She made the statement you took issue with in all innocence because she is really happy and excited about going premium and getting her first piece of land. Naturally she also wanted to tell her friends.
Thanks, Gabriele

Yes, that is exactly why I posted and all the wonderful posts in response have truly warmed my heart (as corny as that sounds). A special thank you to each of you.

Now, Cole - During this past year on SL, I have rented living space as an individual and later on with my Partner. Until yesterday I was a Basic Account holder. I have had some negative comments to posts I've made on the Basic vs. Premium debate. The negative comments were when what I was trying to say was misunderstood and by none of the posters in this thread.
I believed then and believe now that SL is how anyone wishes to live it and Basic vs. Premium has never been an issue with me. In fact, as I mentioned in an earlier post, we continue to live on rental land and I plan to use the new 512 for my shop...for now. Things can change.
This was the comment you responded to:

I chose the yearly payment option and since I don't pay tier on the 512, will see how this next year on SL goes.
In re-reading that it does sound a bit unclear. What was in my mind which didn't translate well to text (I was still on my "First Land Buzz"

was that I paid for the Premium account on the yearly plan so that money has been paid and I have a year to determine if I want to renew. The "not paying tier" meant that no further monthly charges will be deducted from my bank account - again my thought being that for putting out a lump sum of $72.00, I am enjoying a new path in SL.
I didn't mean for it to sound like a Premium vs. Basic debate.

As for Mainland being ugly - again, that is very dependent on the sim and any given time frame. Since we have always lived in the sky, that is not as much an issue for us as those who prefer living on the ground. Our first home was on a GORGEOUS mainland sim upon which most of the people built Asian style homes, business, etc. There was even a meditation and Tai Chi area. It was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. We had to move from there after about 4 months due to our landlord being hit by the VAT tax and selling off the property.

After an extensive search for a similar-sized plot at a reasonable price, we were very fortunate to find our current rental land. This particular mainland sim was pretty ugly. No rhyme or reason to any builds...a few twirling FOR SALE/RENT signs...one platform with what looked like a very disorganized flea market, etc. Coming from the other mainland sim we sighed a bit, but as this plot is on the sim border of Linden-protected ocean, we decided it was a good location and placed our home in the air where the ground view didn't affect us.
Over the past 6 months or so we have lived there, the ground went from ugly disorder, to a great chunk of the sim being purchased and turned into a private club with mall and slips people could rent for their boats/yachts. The build was exquisite and completely changed the sim's look. This venture apparently didn't pay off for the owner, however, and one day we went to the ground to find that entire build gone and the sim chopped up into parcels for sale.
Until this month, all of that land pretty much remained for sale which resulted in a lag-free sim. Also, the company that was selling most of the land put out these little tropical looking islands on each plot (the sim is a water sim) which resulted in a lovely "tropical paradise" look....on mainland. We would come down to our water level occasionally, break out our raft and watch the sunset.
Now the sim is changing again as parcels are being purchased. Most of the current buildings are once again in an Asian/tropical style.
And watching this metamorphosis has been part of the fun of living there.
EDIT - Oh, I don't think I've mentioned - my 512 plot is in this very sim.

Now that I've taken way more time than I needed to in explaining that...lol....again, every single one of the posts here meant so very much to me. A sincere "thank you" to each of you who took the time to post. (Even you Cole *grins*) *Huge smile*
