Several factors, including the thread on what can be done with a 512m plot of land combined to convince me to take the plunge, ugrade to Premium and buy a little plot of land!
I just returned from hitting all the buttons (Upgrade Account/Purchase Land) and as silly as it sounds, hands are a bit shaky but I'm excited about my new adventure in SL. I chose the yearly payment option and since I don't pay tier on the 512, will see how this next year on SL goes.  (Just celebrated my one year rez day on May 1 - this was my present to myself.)So the question....ummmm....what day do the stipends come out again?  _____________________

I'm impressed you could hold off for a whole year before buying land! I couldn't...poor impulse control. It's ok though bc/ my land is my favorite thing in SL._____________________

My Partner and I live on rented land (which isn't for sale and even if it was, not quite ready for the tier of that size plot) so won't be living on my new land...but now it's nice to know that if circumstances changed (our landlord sold off the land, etc.) we would have someplace to go. My initial plan is to use it as my store (currently renting space for that) but over time who knows how it may morph and change!! 3Ring - you'll get the first invitation to my grand "re-opening" of Czari's Attic. Prim addiction....eeepppsss....I already have that. O.o It was such a kick after I purchased the land to hit the "return items to owner" and watch the big "FOR SALE" sign and some other things that were on the land go poof! _____________________

Stipends are now paid on Tuesday/Wednesday depending upon how long the batch takes to process. My store sells items for less that L$300!

As everyone, as started with that 512 and here it is not even a year later and I own 8192! It IS an addiction, I tell you, it is! Prims baby prims! Enjoy yourself tho, it's wonderful having someplace to settle down _____________________

Congrats, Czari...I know how I felt both hitting my first rez day...but more owning some land. So interesting that these "virtual" experiences can be so fulfilling. - i It *is* interesting how something that is "just online" can evoke all kinds of emotions. Since I'm one who spends a great portion of my day on SL and haven't tired of SL in a year, this seemed the next logical step. EDIT TO ADD: My property is right next to a rather large piece of land that has a very nice home on it, complete with helicopter on the roof. Wanting to be a good neighbor, I sent a note card to the property owner, introducing myself, and letting her know I respected privacy (she has a security orb) and would do my best to be a good neighbor. This sim is pretty so I want to do my part to avoid unnecessary banlines, etc. _____________________

Congrats Czari! Watch out for the land buying bug, its addicting!
After reading the 'What can you do with a 512' thread a few weeks back, it struck my interest and I couldnt remember how I did with just a 512 so I recently purchased 512 in a newer sim and built a little skybox hideaway. I am really happy with the way it came out, its furnished and I still have 15 prims left. I didn't think it was possible, but it is and it was a lot of fun putting it together and finding new ways to save prims and incorporate 3-d textures into it. Enjoy your new 512 and have fun fixing it all up! |

i hope it's nice land and it stays that way. ;) i got my 512.... i think about 6 months before i was ready. but i had just been to a land purchasing seminar, and got tips on how to search and what to look for. i found a sim that was 3/4 covered with an elven magic mushroom forest. low lag. low time frame. nice, quiet, beautiful! i dont impulse buy, but.... i snapped it up! (after only half an hour of deliberation.) its a great feeling. :) and to have a place to set to home. it was the first time i terraformed, too! oh, and permanant landmarks to put in product notecards.... and a place to put product servers! and you can grow trees... and grass... though you could probably do most or all of that stuff on your rented place, too. btw, if you clear about 25k in lindens, you can afford another yearly payment ;) _____________________
