I see five threads have been locked with no explanation or source of who the avatar is that is doing the locking. With a few of these, no explanation was needed, but it would be nice to see who is doing the locking and why.
Is this going to be the policy moving forward? I guess the mysterious ResMod is the only one who can answer this particular question.

Agreed. Cristalle posted a complaint over in SLResMod. Go over there and say something. None of this makes any sense, especially the threads that have been moved over to Current Version Feedback and completely don't belong there.

What I find shocking and very dismaying, is that the discussion thread on the new search, which James Linden wanted discussion to be continued in, has now been locked.

Why does the phrase "Be careful what you wish for" come to mind?

just locking the thread takes less time.
If the time required to moderate is an obstacle in forums moderation then it makes plenty of sense.
Since the real reason any thread ever got locked was:
"because the Moderator felt locking was best"
anyhow.

From: Raymond Figtree I see four threads have been locked with no explanation or who the avatar is that is doing the locking. With a few of these, no explanation was needed, but it would be nice to see who is doing the locking and why. Is this going to be the policy moving forward? I guess the mysterious ResMod is the only one who can answer this particular question. Any half decent mod knows proper etiquette is to post a quick blub before moving/editing/locking a thread. With that said why this isn't happening one of 3 possibilities: a. new too modding and not aware of the etiquette b. feels its plainly obvious why and thus no explanation needed c. mod doesn't care if its clear why or not (and if that is the case IMO the mod needs to be addressed or/and removed by the powers that be) M2C

M2C I think the answer is D: Mod plans to post messages eventually but wants to remain anon for now, for some reason. I'm sure they are aware of this very basic part of the job and don't plan to keep us in the dark for long. As long as the bruised and beaten skin thread stays open, I'm happy.

I noticed it too...and though it could have been my last comment that could have been the clencher, OR we were all getting off topic, OR the topic did not belong in theforum, OR the question had already beed answered, Or if humor is disallowed in thre forum, OR......
It WOULD be good to get feedback so as to keep the band of monkeys in some sort of control...

My actions were prompted by a PM someone sent. They sent a well constructed argument that directly quoted this forums rule sticky. What they failed to realize was that I don't have the authority to ban people.
So I did a little cleanup.

So I did a little cleanup. Hey Strife, I guess it's fine that you close the neko threads, the "why are we mean" threads, and all those. But why move "I Used to Like SL" and "Latest Trends in SL Economy (Shopping)" over to Current Version Feedback? Neither of those have anything to do with the current version of Second Life, nor do they offer feedback on the platform in any technical sense.

Good to hear you are still here Strife, we know you are fair to all. But now that you mentioned you don't have the authority to ban, I will tone it down a bit and not make your job so hard for you. Some of my comments were slighty more risque that the required PG...Sigh...appologies.

if people really wanted to be sticky about this forum rules, then over half the threads would never be started, or they would be locked right away
I really am surprised that not more threads are locked
I hope everyone had a merry christmas
(been away from the forums, do not seem to have missed much though LOL)
my PC died, can not get it to boot up, won't even post, so took it to the pc repair shop to see what the problem is (do not have enough knowledge or the tools to troubleshoot it myself) using laptop, which is difficult to type on, and to use for SL as it is slooooow
I wish santa would have brought me a PC for christmas.... heck I wish there really was a santa somedays.
hopefully the new year will hold good tidings for all
bye for now, will try to stop in when I can
be nice to one another

Neither of those have anything to do with the current version of Second Life, nor do they offer feedback on the platform in any technical sense. Also, "Business suddenly fell flat" got moved to Current Version Feedback. I started the thread and got some great feedback from those with SL business experience. (Thanks, ya'll!) Then contributions to the thread suddenly stopped when it got moved. I can't think of any reason why "Current Version Feedback" would be considered a more appropriate place for it.

Of all the threads that could have been locked, the "underage" one was a prime candidate - and should have been locked immediately the Linden (Aki?) had posted the LL policy response to the OP. Still open though....

Most of the time a thread is locked it's rather obvious what was wrong.. so maybe they figure we don't deserve an explanation any more. We've had enough locked to recognize the symptoms.....
