It's not about making people feel better, it's about getting people into the habit of reporting issues.
If the issues they report don't include enough information to figure out what "fletely" they're talking about, it doesn't matter if they report them or not.

think it might be worth pointing out that you have to log into to jira to get your vote registered that might seem obvious to some ...took me a bit to figure it out...
That's why I wrote 'Just log in and click on the "vote for it" link.'

well thats good if youre not moving and dont want to see em....

unfortunately a change in the viewer suggests indens wont be getting rid of the wretched things any time in the near future.

Perhaps if they also eliminated the valid reasons for needing them then they could think about eliminating the tool as well. As long as people insist on co-opting people's properties for their own purposes (one very good example is the sheer number of people in SL who have had the wonderful experience of buying land, paying tier on it, finding the right house and furnishings to rez on their land, then have some freeloading person come along and tell the property owner "Get out of my house";). If people are going to be idiots like that then I have no sympathy for people who aren't happy about the fact that the general populus is banned from somebody's property.

That has nothing to do with ban lines, that's not a freeloader, that's just a griefer. If they aren't going to grief you one way, they'll do it another, they don't even have to come on your land to do it.

And I don't believe that the "sheer number of people" who that's happened to is in the double digits.

Yes, we need real privacy tools, but we need them so we can GET real privacy, not because they're a replacement for the near-worthless ban lines.

Why on earth would I set up ban lines to eliminate such amusing entertainment? People like this make wonderful targets for verbal abuse, followed by firearms practice.

Well... they will quickly find out who's house it is if you own mainland and you ban them. If you are on an estate that allows security orbs, you ban them. Simple.

People like that are worth the AR risk for the fun of Orbiting them. I've enjoyed that a couple of times in my landowning day.

thats happened to me and on top of that he told me my gf was with someone else... I simply banned him. No need to disrupt everyone on sl because of a few loonies.....

Well it had to happen, two crashes down to the parcel being full, 1 down to ban lines and at last that good old favourite the regional boundary crash got me as I tried to fly over....

I must love sl a lot to keep buying land here.......

while there are alternatives to ban lines like securety orbs with a reasonable delay (15 seconds or more) and parcel limit I don't see a way around full parcels, you can't expect people to leave 32 prims free so others can fly over their parcel with 117 prims on a 512 sqm plot 32 prims are a lot to leave unused.

offcourse crashing because flying in a full parcel is a bug, bouncing should be the proper behavior

Nope. Actually, vehicles (anything being sat on) should not count against a parcel. If you stay within a region, you can fly over full parcles all day long and the sim won't care.

It's just when you cross a region boundary and the parcel on the other side is full that the problem happens. The sim doesn't treat it like a vehicle and punts it when it should not.

Read more (and VOTE!) at http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-22.

edit: and the whole thing with being violtently thrown off a vehicle when you bump a ban line, even if you're barely moving, needs some serious work too, IMO.

Full parcels are a straight up BUG, documented and admitted to bu Andrew Linden. It's just a tough one to fix, apparently adding one bit of data to the sim handoff packet would crash the grid. :(

Simple fix. Object collision. Have objects bounce off like they do prim walls, not get stuck and be worthless.

That depends on how often it happens. Get it often enough and people just ban everybody. It is an issue and points out the need for some kind of teaching regarding personal limits before anybody's allowed to ever leave initial orientation, because there are far too many who have no comprehension of appropriate behavior.

It doesn't happen often enough to matter. Next?
