From: DaQbet Kish .... Seriously though, SL isn’t for everyone. Trust me there are plenty of people who find sooo much to do here that they are neglecting important things in their RL. Find that balance. I can not say I have but I hear that when one does it’s a great thing. Maybe, Quaintly you are forcing yourself to be in world when you shouldn’t. Maybe when you feel bored with SL just log off and come back later. We’ll be here. I think this is true, SL isn't for everyone. If you have wandered and seen places and know about most of the things you can do/create in SL, and you STILL have to ask on a forum what people do around here, then maybe you just arent curious/creative enough. If it all depends on having a friend or not, then personally I think you're missing out on a lot of great SL features which allow you to be as creative as you want. Then maybe you need another type of program or game which will entertain you with a more pre-destined path

From: Tigo Volare I think this is true, SL isn't for everyone. If you have wandered and seen places and know about most of the things you can do/create in SL, and you STILL have to ask on a forum what people do around here, then maybe you just arent curious/creative enough. A little harsh, no? There are plenty of ways to be creative OUTSIDE of SL. Coming to RA to ask if there's something she hasn't thought of doesn't mean she's lacking in curiosity or creativity. I can horseback ride, shop, write prose, build, paint in RL, it's simply different when you do these things in SL. No one HAS to 'get' it. If you enjoy the social aspect of SL, but can't seem to find like-minded individuals, take a look at this thread for ideas. /327/d3/247771/1.htmlAlso, make sure to join a few social groups, (peek at my groups found in my profile if you wish). You don't have to spend every spare moment inworld either, just pop in when and if you feel like it.

My Two Quatloos worth: First off, use Search Type in a keyword that interests you and just start visiting the places that come up. That'll keep you busy, and you are bound to meet some people along the way. Also, think of things you would love to do in RL but can't. Be it due to finances, physical limitations, or even fear, and see if they exist in SL. For me it's Sky Diving and flying my helicopters, with some RPing thrown in. I couldn't care less about building, scripting, or running a business, so that's how I spend my time. More importantly, if you don't feel like logging on, don't. Or if you gt bored after a half hour log off. I don't go on every day, and most sessions are from a half hour to an hour, then I do something else and sometims come back for an hour or so. And after all is said and done, if SL isn't your cup of coffee, it's not a character flaw, don't worry about it. You may stay away and down the road get the urge to come back. I hear it happens.

Well dont feel bad for asking I think thats great! It shows to me that you are not shy so thats half the battle won. I spend most of my time with a certain friend or off doing my thing with my land. When I am bored of messing with the land and I am by myself which it happens. I just go to a live music event, hit up a discussion group (which there is a great one in my pic's) that is very open and friendly or just TP into a place that seems interesting enough. It is hard to meet ppl sometimes exploring solo no doubt, just im me we can do it together one time maybe?
Good Luck!

Here is a list of things not to do from Desmond.. I can assure you that it will keep you entertained for weeks if not longer... From: Desmond Shang * * * * *
It's good to hear you are helping new residents! But now that you are an official oldbie, here are ways NOT to help them:
Do not, under *any* conditions whatsoever, give freebie weapons and a helicopter to a noob, and tell him of 'big game' regions where there are lots of large, anthropomorphic animals.
Do not tell them that the vampire "^V^^V^V^V^ Howlzzzzzzz ^V^V^V^V^" thing you gave them is the coolest thing, evar, at a club.
Do not blind-tp 40 of your newest friendship-starved, don't-know-anyone-else friends into the sky, 400 meters above another oldbie's skybox humper-bunker. Especially when occupied. Doubly especially after giving them the Benny Hill run-around flashmob animation.
Never, ever, ever under any circumstances rename a gorean click-for-chain collar as "cool diamond necklace" and give it to a noob. And especially not in conjunction with 'fun roleplaying landmarks.' It is just wrong.
It is harmful to tell someone that they are actually stuck as the Zebra avatar permanently, and to make the best of it.
Do not ever casually refer to a noob as "ok boss", then "yes sir Phil" or say "so just what are you gonna do with that $L 50 million?" just out of the noob's chat range. It confuses both the noob, and all the gold-diggers in the nearby vicinity.
Last of all, it is VERY important that you never role-play that you are a weak-willed, incredibly sexy 19 year old girl who is beginning to rediscover her faith amongst a group of bible-thumping guys. It is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wrong to make a guy fall for you over three weeks... especially if you suddenly 'reveal yourself' to be a man on voice, loudly and publically in a large group just as he was saying lovey-dovey things to you. Bad! Bad! This is sick and wrong.
Have fun.. lots of good advise here. Just do things you enjoy doing or things that you always wanted to try in rl but for some reason you were not able to...

From: Colette Forster Everyone gave great ideas...have you bought a house and furnished it? That is a blast and is taking me a fair amount of time. I rented... furnished it halfway and then got distracted (by shopping) and never finished. lol From: Colette Forster Are you in Hong Kong? If so, there are lots of Asian sims... Malaysia From: Brann Georgia I recommend a place that seems oddly blue in hue (especially on Monday evenings) and one that contains the word "cartel" I've been to the one with the word "cartel" The first time, Garrett was the only one there... the second time, Garrett and two other people. From: 3Ring Binder build build build build build You took the words right out of my mouth on that one. If ever I am bored, I build, if I am not bored I build, all the times inbetween, I build ... most of the time just for fun, just because I can. Not a professional by any means but thats what keeps it fun I think. I do shop also (girl too!!) I love freebie hunting for that odd little gem. I also spend a fair bit of time on Help Island Public, chatting with friends and helping anyone I can. Oh and I was extra bored today and I discovered Zyngo!!!! Lotta fun for free.

When I'm not building or redoing my stores, I like to find things to see and do that I would not easily have the chance to do in RL: Scuba Diving, swimming with sharks, exploring haunted places (like the Japanese haunted hospital), base-jumping (parachuting off of skyscrapers), cycling around the City of Liome, jetskiing - and thats not even counting my favorite "adult" pursuits.

well same here Bored with everything . When I first started it was fun had lots to do but since SL took alot out it just got boring. Now they cant seem to keep the assett server stable so now i play other games that are Free like shaiya and Metin2. Both are fun both you get XP and prizes for killing things so the adventure never ends with them. On shaiya I am on lvl 31 metin 2 i just started and i am on lvl13 ( still learning everything yet LOL ) but its fun.
SO try those as well when SL is down you always have something to do.

I love to explore and usually do that on my own, unless I've found some cool place and send tp's to friends to come and see.
I'm part of SL Cancer Survivors, Relay For Life and take part in things throughout the year. I've met some really great people and go to as many events as I can. I also belong to some store groups and enjoy getting the updates. Quite often I end up IMing friends to tell them about some new product in one of the stores or especially a SALE.
I only got a pc just about 2 years ago and have never had a class on computers or programs. I'm in the early learning stages of Photoshop 7.0 and get confused at times, but through trial and error I'm slowly learning. It does help that there is a free tutorial website for my version on the internet that I was tipped off to. I WILL LEARN HOW TO DO THIS(I can be stubborn at times)!
Go to any NCI Center at the best time for you and you'll meet lots of people. Not everyone there is a newbie since many come for the classes. You can always check on Map to see how busy it is.
Type in keywords for any charities that you support in RL, they might have a presence in-world and you could volunteer. Or contact your favorite charity in RL and find out if they would be interested in establishing themselves with your help. Good way to find more people in your time zone.
And if you find yourself getting more disenchanted/bored, take a break, re-evaluate, try again or close your account if that is best for you. Do what makes you happy or content.

Then the other day we had a naked female noob avatar walking round wearing a similar attachment. Several of us politely asked her to put clothes on...she ignored us. Both of these incidents occurred at Hanja Welcome Area. You wouldn't get me in a sex club for all the tea in China!

I ride motorcycles, shoot zombies, shoot at the gun range, go see Live bands play (look up Live Music in "Groups", you'll be "in the scene within hours" , and I go "Sim-Hoppin'" when all else fails. There's also a bowling alley in Bay City that actually WORKs all the time. Across the grid there's a few games like skiing, parachuting, and some clubs have airhockey & pool (usually the ones that do, put it in the decription. Other than that, I meet random contacts when I "Sim-Hop" for a few minutes, and add the cool ppl to my groups, or my Friend list. Next thing u know, you got a "crew". That way somebody you get along with is bound to be on 2 hang out whenever u wanna. Good luck.

click search. go to events tab. select date radio button. press today button.
actually, i like filtering by educational first, then games/contests second. sometimes sports. tailor to your taste.
so lets see what i do....
building. building, texturing, packing, promo shots, product boxes, stuffing vendors and servers and updating on rez (okay, thats outside of sl). experimenting. making fun stuff just for myself (my tiny tauntaun rocks!)
scripting. making the builds do stuff. tweaking vendor scripts. experimenting.
teaching. scripting and building. making class notes/lectures, slides; builds for classes, etc.
playing games. trivia. primtionary, tiny primtionary, speed build, building shelter. frootcake and other procyon games. prize hunts, egg hunts. nessie hunt. hunt for the zodiac killer and associated minigames (taking up most of my time this month! :X). warbots! i am legend (i tried it a bit). csi.
racing. giant snail races! giant snail rfl cross country marathon! training tiny giant snail racers. barrel racing at rodeos (need more of these). horse races (need more of these, too!)
running games. i created a building game, now i run it! 7seas fishing tourneys. (i dont actually spend a lot of time fishing, im still only level 2!) want to try running some races, too.
showing off. show & tell every sunday at 2pm.
meetings. as an officer in a group, i gotta go to meetings sometimes ;) and help with group events.
lucky chair hopping. had to cut down on this, after massive influx of fish :X
avatar shopping. grendels, north central av, rocket city furmeet, kitsusana bazaar. and the japanese tiny sims. i dont buy a lot, cuz im on a strict budget... but i love avatars!
i think i need to cut down on some of my volunteer/event work. it's really cutting into my time to build/make things, and dealing with large groups of people is a bit stressful. :/
