That's just scarey. I still like my boss with his 64 PCs (his children as he calls them) suppossedly he has a fully made flight system with all the controls and was working on making the cockpit. (his house has fingerprint security instead of house keys also). Guessing being in the north his heating bill wasn't high with that many PCs running

I have three that I use (desktop and my old and my new laptop-the old one almost died in March but I was finally able to save it) and several old ones in the closet....

Well lets see..... I have one Dell desktop that I use exclusively at home. Another, older Dell sits on the floor that was my fiance's and he plans to rebuild when he gets home from over seas. He has a laptop that he uses all the time and has it with him now. I have an old HP that isn't worth anything any more except for the few files on the hard drive that I should get out of there. So...I guess that's 4 total, with really only 2 that get used......until my fiance gets home and builds his turbo boosted mega gaming puter and sets up an extra server..... then I guess we'll be just like everyone else lol

I have 4 total: 3 are mine 1 gaming rig running xp home 1 older pc in the bedroom running Ubuntu Hardy Heron (still new to this, but learning ) My son's pc running xp home (and his laptop, but he has it with him at college, so I won't count it) And a laptop running vista home premium, mainly used as a backup for the gaming rig when I feel like chilling in the recliner, or DVR duties when needed.

If one includes the spouse's and children's and legacy machines, then ...
MacBook Pro Powerbook 17" Mac Mini
home-built 3GHz Core2Duo/4Gb/8800GTS box
three SGI Indy workstations
Mac G3 Quadra 650 Mac Classic Mac 512
pieces of 3 P3-class machines, all strewn about
one slide rule

FYI- We just switched to "Consolidated" DSL. At first I was like "HELL NO!" till I realized its over Fiber Optic, so thats ok. The speed is decent so far. Havent done any stress tests yet. And we're only paying about $95 a month for phone, internet, & TV instead of paying Comcast & a Phone company $170/month. The ONLY downside..... they gave us a modem/router. I cant access the router for some reason ( ) and I have a router of my own that works VERY well (ahem- Cisco). So tomorrow I'm calling to see if we can get just a plain MODEM. Sorry Consolidated- I'm an MCSE with networking experience. I don't need the dumbed down consumer stuff. Besides, their router/modem only has 2 ports and the wireless doesnt work. I have 5 computers, plus 2 laptops with wireless. I was able to VPN into my home PC from anywhere. I can't now.

Let's see... One desktop & one laptop on my desk (I do SAM Broadcasting from the laptop, SL & everything else from the desktop - 2x 19" monitors and component video out to a 46" 1080p LCD HDTV mounted above the desk). One desktop on my wife's desk, right next to me. One in son's room. So far so good.
One IBM X305 running FreeBSD, firewalling & natting & webserving & mailhosting for my domain, and connecting the rest of the systems.
One PC hooked up to a projector in the somewhat finished basement for watching DVDs and such on the basement wall - 10' diagonal screen & surround sound, gotta love it.
One thin client in the basement for web-browsing when doing laundry.
Two "spare" desktops and one laptop, undecided what I'll do with them as of yet.
Now if you'd only asked me 6 months ago, I would have added the VAX 4600 and 16 VAXStation 4060's I just sold off. Hey, they may be slow, but they could crush your computer to bits if they fell over on it. And yes, they ran NetBSD!
Oh - almost forgot, have a working Compaq Portable III. Can't run anything but DOS, damnit, only 512kb of memory.

1 server (currently running XP pro soon to go back to linux) 1 away from home box (xp pro) 1 kids box (xp home) 1 shiny new quad core to be delivered in a few days (xp pro cause I just didn't feel like dealing with 'fixing' vista for a gaming machine) never mind the 2 macs and 1 desktop I 86'd in the last year or so (parts n scrap) nor the laptop I generally 'borrow' from my friend, nor all my friends computers that I have to 'fix' on a regular basis.... wtf did I take all those IT classes?
