Are Megaprims Allowed?

I would think there is a difference in using one for a pond and using one to erect a huge wall for no other reason than to piss off your neighbor.I hope so anyway.

Well, I went over this morning to take a look at my property lines underwater. I went up to the wall and got thown back by his ban line. At one little area, he was on my property line. Bingo.

I just sent another AR in with the snapshot for that too.

You know, I despise landbots and ad farms as much as everyone else however, in this case, to piss this guy off, I would almost consider doing this (almost, I said, almost... )

I wish I had the tier available,I would buy it and do it,hehe.

1) Recording IMs and Chat:

Did you know that in Edit / Preferences / Communication / Logging Options you can set up to record every thing to your hard disk?
Check all the boxes in that section.
Then you'll have a date and time-stamped record of the lot.
Chat and incoming IMs will go to t file named Chat.txt
IM sessions will go to a text file named after the other party in the IM session, followed by .txt



2) Harassment.
Whereas somone may have escaped AR action after trying to encourage an ad farmer to sell, that does not mean that the same will hold for someone trying to encourage a 'legit' neighbouring landowner to sell.

I seriously doubt that LL have fundamentalist black and white rules pasted up on their walls.
In the case of the ad farm policy, they will make judgement calls on whether or not a build on a small plot is "clearly intended" as harassment.
It not beyond the bounds of possibility that they would warn your neighbour for harassment given the pressure on you to sell to him.



If you have no use for the land and no need to sell it then just wait him out.
He'll have to suffer the sight of the megaprim/ugly as well. If he does something like transparency on his side to hide it from him own view, then you've got him on the intent of his build.

If you feel like selling then just put it up at the price that you would expect the market to pay. He might think that nobody would buy, but the thought someone might will constantly niggle at him. Additionally, the sight of his own ugly may niggle at him.
Why waste any nervous energy on the guy? If he wants to buy at market price just in case someone else buys it despite the megaprim/ugly, just let him.

In the meantime have an AR party to get a mass-AR of any encroachment you discover.
Ask him to move the prims first, and let him refuse. Include that exchange in the ARs. Put the "neighbour refuses to move encroaching prims" in the Summary.

And then forget all about him.

Just my 2 lindens worth but I wouldn't change the party just because of this jerk and his giant plywood wall. He sort of wins if you do, IMHO.

Sling, I did know you can save all the IM text, I just never felt the need to bother with it but now I see why it is a necessity at times.

You gave me a lot of good information and much to think about as far as how to handle this going forward. I really appreciate you taking the time for that.

It is transparent on HIS side. That in itself, as you mention, shows his intent to harass me. He isn't trying to block any terrible view of my land, I haven't done anything wrong to him. He still gets to see the lovely sprawling ocean view and I see a huge plywood monstrosity all because I would not bow down to his desire to own what I have and; he claimed that the party was going to have hundreds of people "staring into his home" (as if any of our parties ever had that many in attendence - we wish!).

I never wanted to move in the first place - I adored living there. Very peaceful environment. He really did force me out a couple of weeks ago before he even escalated it to this point.

I am leaving on vacation in a couple of days. Will put it up for sale at whatever price I please and leave it at that. Not going to waste my precious, restful days away worrying about him, that's for sure! If he buys it, he does. If not, so be it and I'll deal with it when I return.

I don't need to sell it, can well afford my current tier holding onto it. If worse comes to worse, 3Ring wants to rent it also, so, pffft to him!

The only problem Tex, is that the wall is causing HUGE lag. That, is quite the party killer, you know? Otherwise, we probably would have left it there. We easily could have textured the wall nicely. Plus, the wall is transparent on his side - he would have had to watch us all having a good time!


EDIT: However, I wonder if I should throw some kind of horrible type of party there sometime soon if he does not take down that wall?

So, have the party anyways. Many forum goers are just wicked enough to enjoy this idea. But make sure to BAN him from the land during the party He can watch all he wants, but he can't join in.

I thought mega prims didn't cause that much lag at all. I must be missing something.

Well, something is suddenly. Unless it's all the other crap he put into the sim lately. But there NEVER was lag there until like yesterday. Ever. Coincidence? Don't know.

Can we get a landmark to YOUR land or a slurl perhaps? Would love to hang out there and just hug up to the wall and cam in on him and shout to him things like "I see you..." Always fun to do stuff like that to people who can't do anything back, and he has no proof I'm talking to him.

Have everyone AR him for that obvious griefing. It's a complete no-brainer to see his intent.
It's silly, but apparently it takes a cluster of ARs to get Linden attention.

The lag was pretty bad yesterday since he put that up. It might have been just me,but my draw was down to 64 and it was still bad. I would have just held it at the hangout if I wanted lag.

I do thank Elora for her generous offer and time she has spent with me though on this project. She is awesome.

I'm pretty sure you're just kidding here, but in case it crosses your mind, know that if the Lindens figure out that you're ARing someone with more than one account, they can ban YOU for "alt abuse."

I've just been there.
It's absolutely blatant unmistakable harassment.
It's clear why he wants your land.
He is on 3 boundaries and you have a long strip of Linden canal on the 4th boundary.
His land behind the prim wall is empty. It has a nice view of your land, but you see plywood.

The screen is two 50x50x1 megaprims, and they are non-phantom.
Non-phantom that size are reputed to cause various issues. LL will remove suspect megaprims regardless of the good/bad putpose of using them.
You still have to get him on the harrasment thing. He could just as well use phantom or normal prims to do the one-way plywood.

Once you get harassment on the record against him, he lacks credibility if he tries something else.

Definitely do an AR cluster on him.

Elora, i know you are mostly kidding, but i urge you to not do any retro-griefing.

you have excellent land. if you would be wiling to sell it to me without the prim-land, i actually might want to buy it. i would rather make my own prim land in a way that suits my own style.

let me know. i don't mind a griefer neighbor. i know how to ignore them completely.

3Ring, I'm certainly NOT going to grief him back. I'm just blowing wind. I don't want to jeopardize my position. But, lots of AR's filed against him by others, certainly would be appreciated.

As for selling you my land, let me think about it. I leave on vacation in 2 days. I know you're on a budget, and the land was very pricey even when I bought it, as I mentioned last night. And I have to get rid of the prim land too, or my tier will remain at the next level, which is an issue for me. So, things to ponder on. But, we'll talk when I return.

In the intermim - I am going to put it up for sale before I leave and see if he bites while I'm gone.

I have run into a similar issue on my land, my house is on a lake carved out of the mainland that many people have built around and enjoyed for a long time. Recently someone purchased what must be about a half of a region that goes right through the lake. They used tons of giant megaprims to build over the lake and destroy the neighborhood for everyone, they have even all but blocked my access to the water. Even worse, a Linden Labs right of way goes right through their property and they have placed prims over it connecting their property, clearly building on Linden Owned land must be a violation of TOS.

Their build goes right up to the edge of a neighboring sim and they have piled non-phantom megaprims right up against the edge of the sim border, often times encroaching into neighboring land. Often now when I get anywhere near my beach located on the sim border the lag is so bad I can't even walk. Of course other neighbors are also upset by this and now I'm seeing them "fight back" by placing their own giant megaprims right up against the property as well, the lag seems to be getting even worse. Others are trying to leave and sell their land putting up all sorts of spinning for sale signs, etc. I can't say that I blame them really, their land's value (and at least some of mine) has probably been cut in half by the actions of this new landowner.

For over two weeks I have been filing abuse reports on the megaprims against the sim border and the prims that are encroaching Linden Labs land, I know that at least some of my neighbors have filed abuse reports as well.

Linden Labs has done absolutely nothing about it, it amazes me that they they don't even appear to care if people build right over their own Governor Linden owned land so while I do recommend continuing on your course and filing abuse reports, it has been my experience at least that nothing will probably come of them.
