Are Megaprims Allowed?

Continuing Saga of the Horrible Neighbor...

Today, he put up like a 10 story megaprim between his land and mine. HUGE, plywood looking monstrosity. And, I was supposed to be hosting the upcoming Forum party next week. That's the end of that - thankfully Rioko managed to secure another place for it (thanks to Stormy I believe).

I put in an AR for harassement. Don't know if this was really ok to do, but I did it anyway since I know he did it to stop the party and to force me into selling my land to him.

While I was just on the land, he IM's me asking if I'm ready to sell the land! The gall of him! So I said yes, $120000 for the main land, and $30000 for the prim land. I know this is a ridiculous amount of money. Well, he comes back with $40000! How insulting! And won't back down from this lol!

I tell him I paid more than double for the land originally. So, under no circumstances will I consider his offer anything but something worth laughing at. The whole conversation was crazy. We left it at he knows where to find me if he wants to buy the land. I already have a new home, can afford the tier for both places, so that isn't an issue at the moment.

The problem is - that freaking megaprim. If I want to sell it at a reasonable price to someone else, nobody is ever going to buy it with that thing up. I can't imagine that it can't be a problem to the Lindens, but then again, these days I'm not so sure about anything (oh wait, are we allowed to use the word "Lindens"?).

In the end, I bet he'll wind up buying it from me, and I know I gave him a crazy price. But, I wanted to toy with him a bit anyway. I'll probably put it up for sale for real, with those prices and let him contact me again and make a more reasonable offer.

But that megaprim has to be addressed because what I really want more than anything is to get him in trouble right now. I know they can be used in certain circumstances - but as a screen to piss off a neighbor? Ummm, not so much.

Megaprims are allowed, land griefing is not. Abuse Report him, including a snapshot of the prim in your report (face it while you file it), and include his IM that he wants to buy the land. It's evidence of a "crime."

Crud, wish I had the IM. But I did send the snapshot of the prim. I do have one IM he sent me through my email tho. I can probabably send that. Wish I had thought to save my im's...

in the market for land. giant walls don't bother me. i make giant buildings to house my goods, and never see the walls anyway.

i'll come in world and take a peek. my limit is 1024, however. i don't want to up my tier, although i could afford it, but that will only start a new trend of me trying to meet the next tier limit and before i know it..... i'm a prim whore, and very weak. LOL

Is it entirely on his land, or does it overlap yours? If it's entirely on his land, I don't think you have much of a case for an AR.

unless it is causing interference with her 2L experience with some of the phsyics issues megaprims cause.

True, if she puts up some horrible ugly buildings...nice and tall. I do have a 1024 lot there also which he boxed me into with some landscaped screens last I looked. Could put up my own megaprims on that one too for that matter if they are not AR'able lol.

lag is bad, and since it's new.... save all conversations (bait him into one if you can) and then AR him for harrassment and lag.

If the megaprim is causing the lag, then you do have a justifiable case for an AR. Is this mainland or estate land? L$40,000 is a more than reasonable offer for 2560 sq.m. of mainland in the current market. I'm not saying this gives him the right to grief you, but he probably thinks he's making you a reasonable offer. Edit: If it's estate land, why isn't the estate owner doing something about it?

To put this in perspective - I have some land surrounded by adfarms, and I put up a megaprim to block them. I made what was a reasonable offer for the current market to one of the adlot owners, which he rejected, and subsequently told me that he was AR-ing me for land extortion, because I had a wall and I made him an offer on his land that he thought was an insult (market prices be damned).

Well, I'm still here, and so is my wall of snow, and so is his former adlot (now vacant). Making an offer on land in combination with putting up a megaprim to block the view is not automatic grounds for a Linden sanction. However, if his megaprim is causing you lag, it is.

It's is mainland. And the megaprim must be causing the lag. I never have had a lag issue here in the whole 6 months I've been living here.

As for the price, I paid a hell of a lot more thatn what he is offering me for the main land alone, let alone the prim land I own there too. The $40000 is a slap in the face. So, if that is all he is willing to offer, than so be it. I'll hold onto it, and rent it out if need be or use it myself and hope the AR is enforceable and he has to take that megaprim down.

I certainly am NOT going to take a loss on my land!

Note to 3Ring - with my prim land, the prim count on the land is actually 819. Does that do the trick?

You did the right thing in AR-ing for harassment. He was no better than an extortionist ad farmer. Don't worry about the logs, the Lindens have it.

Maybe your neighbor is just compensating for something.

L$40K is about L$15/m². I'm no expert on land prices but I'd say your land is worth more than that. It borders Linden (water) land which can be sailed to a two-sim lake to the southwest or to a larger lake to the northeast. However, I think you might have a hard time getting much more than L$64K (L$25/m²). But then again, how much something is worth depends on how much someone is willing to pay for it.

As for the megaprim wall, it's plywood on your side and transparent on his. So, it's pretty clear it's there to annoy you. It being made of megaprims may be causing the lag since it's not phantom. It's probably ARable. If it were made of normal prims, there'd be no action on the AR since there's nothing illegal about making a wall plywood on one side and clear on the other.

If you really want to get him, haggle till you get to the best he will pay whether it's what it's worth or not, then carve it into 16m plots and sell it to landbots & adfarmers under that price instead it will take him years and heap more cash than he tried to embezzel off you to get the whole lot back to one piece and his land will be devalued too

everyone gets self-righteous when i chime in on the particular topic, so suffice it to say that i recommend playing dirty.
