How else would we know about www.felonhall.com?

Oh Ray, you are soooo dancing a thin line there for flame free Sunday. You made me laugh, but you are so on the line.

Great candles can be found at Dark Paradise. I've managed to fill up my home with every different candle set I've found there!!

I think that pictures, dancing avatars and advertizements in a signature are very annoying but the good thing about them is that they tell me where not to shop.

Who else thinks "signatures" at the bottom of posts are a little annoying? Are they really necessary? Why do YOU add a signature? I often keep on reading until I realize (duh) that the post is finished - that I'm now reading the signature ... Please take this in a poking kind of way - who knows, if this thread picks up, I might even add my own!!

Sorry. I did't tink having a sig was a bad thing.

My sig is purely for advertising. I think it works. I think there are probably a lot of content creators who post here but what do they make? Heck if I know.

And I can't believe anyone can complain about the sigs here. Have you ever been to any other forums? I used to read the Everquest forums and almost everyone had AT LEAST 200x600 sigs. You had to have a pic of your main (and your alts) stating profession and level, your guild name, your server name, maybe firiona vie in the background...

I might bow to public opinion and remove my silly signature soon.

why not?

.... hate the big picture ones mind you.......

In my case when my sig picture took up the whole screen it was because of mistake. I wasn't aware of how to control this at the time but with little bit of experimenting I have been able to shrink down some images but the bigger more complex ones they take up the entire page so I don't post those here any more.

My signature serves no purpose whatsoever, and is a throw-back from my days as a moderator at starkingdoms.com. One day a user joined whose signature was: "Being a DJ gets you girls like these" followed by a few small photos collected on a banner sized image, showing shots of girls who look much like the average female avatar on SL :)

It became a fast growing fad and I joined in with my own attempt, a tongue-in-cheek image since I'm a horse owner IRL (just the one, who happens to be looking rather oddly at the photographer who wasn't me, I know better than to point a camera at the fiend).

Commonly misinterpreted though as I do no advocate animal abuse (nor was it implied, all the horses pictured are mares), and on Windows (which has quite a dark default screen brightness compared to OS X) many people can't make out the tail on the left-most horse.

Beyond that I put my computer specs in my signature, since they are useful if I ever post a support question or such.

quite.

If you don't like them, turn them off. End of.

Your Signature was always the one that summed things up for me.

Just for you, I'm going to revert. :D Well, maybe because I was fond of it too. I've tried lots of sigs since but generally didn't see the point of them after a few hours. I had that one for months though. :)

Wha? You think signatures on the bottom are annoying? That's ridiculous...usually the people that say this are those people that don't have the savvy to create one for themselves--they wish they could have something flashy and cool...and hate that they aren't able to implement it.

Who would agree with that? I don't suppose anyone here would...remember, you'll only get the brutal, God's honest truth from me.

I'd understand you thinking a signature was annoying if it was bright yellow and green, with swirling animated pink dots...but that's hardly the case.

I put a lot of time into my signature. It advertises my personality, my avatar, and my design company. I've gotten quite a lot of in-world IMs from my forum signature--which led to either friendships or jobs offers.

As long as your signature isn't too wide (exceeding the inner-width of the white forum area), or too tall...really tall ones are just as annoying. Most 'good' sig creators know what dimensions look good, and which aren't acceptable.

Just like the golden ratio rule...there is a singular golden signature rule--and although some may claim mine to be too large, it conforms to a design ethic...

I love signatures. In fact, some designers make RL money by mastering sig-creation.

i currently don't have a sig, but i will again. i LOVE sigs at the bottom.

don't none of you ever ever cave and give yours up just because ONE person doesn't like it, or even five, or ten. this isn't America. we serve the many, not the one. that's bullshit!

i hate these sorts of campaigns to control the people.

keeps your sigs, post whatever you want, as big or as small.... data or personal... and tell the complainers to shut sigs off if it bugs them so much. it takes a lot, and this is the sort of political crap that pushes my buttons.

Don't think there's any sort of campaign going on to eliminate sigs lol, the question was asked, people answered. Let's not get all bent out of shape ...

And Michael, different people's minds work differently. For me, it's all about the words, which is why i like the text sigs. Wouldn't have a graphical sig if you paid me. Your's is lovely. But I often turn images off because of the repetitiveness ... but then someone posts one in a message and i want to see that!

Different synapses, different tastes.

I find this ironic, since your sig is "that much" too wide for my preferred window size. :)

EDIT: Actually, it messes up the post alignment in my browser, regardless of how wide I set the window.

I definitely prefer seeing a link instead of the Graphics. I'll usually look at the link. *Mike's is well done BTW, very catchy*

Something is wrong with your resolution then. I created my sig to fit the cell's width perfectly. There shouldn't be any shifting or extending of your tables/cells. Not sure what resolution your desktop is set at...but all the [resolutions] I've tried work just fine.

Thank you for the kudos. I understand people think differently--this, in fact, is one of the more difficult aspects of design--finding your market and pleasing your audience. [We] know perfectly well that you can't please everybody all the time.

My screen resolution is 1680 x 1050. But I don't think it's an issue with that. Possibly it's an idiosyncrasy with the browser I'm using: Opera 9.24 on Mac. Browsers are *so* inconsistent. Or perhaps it's something Mac specific. Dunno.

On my end, it works for any resolution, on both Firefox and IE. Opera is the culprit...it must be. Sorry it's jacking your forum table up...get Firefox. :)
