It was the group Second Life Mentor founded by Char Linden. If Lindens are now creating lookalike groups for giggles, then it could have been a hoax.

Well that is not good then, if the said person is involved in this the group will take action. But frankly speaking there are landborns in the mentor groups ( high ranks ) that in the past have caused issues with people ( in thier alts ) and still are in the group. LLABS relaly doesnt care really at times. Only if they have personal issues with them wil they take action. LLABS knows who they are and they can careless. If i were you i file a ABUSE REPORT and report that avie to the mentor group leader and see what happens. Shakeshead what happened to the repectabilty of the mentor group?

Granted, the impending recession (and possibly worse) in some parts of the world is going to have an impact on SL to some extent. Entertainment budgets are the first to get cut back for certain persons at such times. But really... that's not enough to drive SL into the ground.

As for everything within the bubble of SL -- it fluctuates, it shifts, it responds, it propels... it does many things. It is also salvation for many.

In the year I've been in SL I've learned that people, places and fads come and go. I've learned that SL is what you make it for yourself. I've learned that if you see something for sale somewhere, buy it soon because you never know how long that item will be in world. I've learned to enjoy places while I can. I've learned that there's always something new and exciting around the corner. I like that about SL.

And for me? The Necros Community is now nearly 2 sims strong, most of our rentals rented out, we're all still having fun playing and updating our region, and I'm hoping to have a real shop with items for sale in the coming months. I'm still finding wonderful people and places I haven't been exposed to before. And I'm having fun developing the New SL Resident Kit further.

Could the world recession be good for SL?

In the U.S. SL is cheaper than going to a movie, cheaper than going out to dinner, cheaper than most other options out there. It may may nickel and dime some individuals into spending more in a month than some of those other options but that is not the way the human mind works.

I see it being very possible that many people choose to cut out many of those other expenses and choosing the "less expensive" internet for entertainment.

I heard a Prediction that world is going to end in 2012, if its true then may Second Life will end then.

Seriously tho, I've heard the same. The whole Mayan Calendar thingy. Depends how you look at it: The world ends as in "We all die" or "The world as we know it ends and a new world begins".

Or maybe they predicted the Goverment's of the 'World' would screw things up & the Internet ceases to exist, thus ending SL and ushering in an age of people who cant exist without SL, YouTube, Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc.??? "What is this thing you call "pencil"??

I saw a documentary tonight on television about it.
The Hopi's have prediction to about the world ending in 2012.
It will be because of the poles moving to new locations causing total world disaster.
There is scientific theory every so million of years forgot how many it said that
this happens.
But you know there was also lot of people who thought the world would end in 2000.
My believe is we don't know when anything in our virtual or real life "reality" will end
just try to enjoy what you can each moment just in case.

Given how well things have turned out for the Hopi so far, I would not be using their predictions for a guide!

That sounds cute avatar. I wish I could figure out how to make skeleton and other prim type avatars and skins better. I don't usually buy other people's work but I love to look. Though I did find these really great sculpted trees recently and bought a set. By the way actually the pixie skeleton is going to be part of stone cliff wall in my friend and sim mate's garden that I have hand painted with hand painted flowers,etc..
