that something not good will happen to SL.
i see the signs already.
lots of shops closing up and disappearing.
camping and camping payout prices decreased while the sit time increased.
people owning land thats being sold/abandoned.
users reverting back to free from premium.
private estate sims closing up.
camping/land bots dominating SL for profit.
increased costs to own/operate on SL.
havent seen much serious griefing lately though.
so what do you think ?
opinions please...

I don't know. Linden Labs says the economy is stable, they aren't worried.
I guess when they start to worry in the blog about the residents and economy we will see.
Lot of money is still being paid to them from where I am looking.
LL Survived Prim Taxes and much worse.

i see all this too, but don't believe it's the reason SL will fade away.

SL doesn't cater to its people, and there is now real competition of other RPG very similiar (if not hijacked), which we knew was coming, and the REAL threat hasn't even been launched yet.... but later this year i think. they have been watching, and will create a "better world" while SL simply continues to grow stagnant. the only reason SL continues to hang on is because of its possibility to turn pretend money into rael money. when they do finally shut down that option, SL will shrivel up and die.

When SL becomes less popular that's when it'll become better. The mainland is just too overcrowed right now. It's a lag monster.

I look forward to just four residents per sim and lots of nice waterways. :)

Dude #1: No, the electric company. They say I owe them eight hundred dollars.
Dude #2: Dude, you and I were having two totally different conversations.

I don't see it going anywhere. Sure, those looking to turn a profit will hunt the ways to do so. If there is no way to turn a profit, they will go elsewhere. Those of us just in it to enjoy and make friends will hopefully stick around. At this point, less people in certain areas really doesn't sound like such a bad thing.

so what do you think ?

When the honeymoon is over
it's easy to forget the good and
focus only on the negative.

These portentious omens are
decidedly inferior to many that
have been lamented about before
and are now long forgotten.

SL has a high turn over rate.
Could you imagine the lag we'd
have if no one ever left? ;)

It may end and it may not. I am hoping for the not. For those of us that enjoy it daily thru thick and thin if it ends tomorrow guess what? we will survive..

For those that wanna b*tch and moan about all of the problems, or whine that the camping does not pay like it used to (LMAO!) , or the economy is tanking, or spread the speculative BS wondering when it will end. Do us all a favor and hit the red x in the top right and go play pacman.

I for one will be staying till the last bit and byte crosses over the line because there is nothing even close to being comparable to Secondlife. HOOAH

You're right, LL should remove the prim taxes, or SL is going belly up. (2003)
You're right, it's those dang WWIIOL'ers ruining it for all of us. (2004)
You're right, it's LL removing all the bonuses on high ratings and traffic bonuses (2005)
You're right, it's the gold rush of all those new people coming in expecting to make a quick buck (2005/2006)
You're right, the copybot will destroy it all (2006)
You're right, the gambling ban will destroy the economy (2007)
You're right, with VAT, it's no longer possible to keep the economy afloat (2007)

Prob. missed a dozen or two...

Are we all dying again? Bugger!!

The fact that all these places are closing is, possibly, the reason business is getting better for us that are staying for the long haul.

I've had my main store in the same location for over a year now and, unless something unforseen happens in RL, it'll be in exactly the same place for a few more years to come.

SL Actually died 04/14/1994 - since then we are just ghosts in the machine. The 'new users' are actually stray websites that get caught in the machine.

real world = machines
zion = the matrix "RL" choice when discovering the matrix was fake (zion was rebuilt 6-7 times remember? :))
matrix = the super virtual world
secondlife = the virtual world inside the virtual world

just a matter of time we get pluuged in again to play the virtual virtual virtual virtual world
