http://www.kabalyero.com/2007/11/11/search-outside-second-life/I was rather suprised to find this and that nobody had mentioned it on the forums yet. Gives a little glimpse into what is to come, perhaps? What is neat is, you can click on the results and pull them up on a webpage, even profiles, complete with photo and profile picks...

It's been mentioned on the forums a few times . There's a (volunteer only I think) Q&A session with Jeska tomorrow as well on the new search system.

Yes, been using this regularly for a while. Even in its unfinished state it's a big improvement over what's built into the client now. Unfortunately the links it offers at the moment aren't quite compatible with the released versions of the client, so there is a bit of typing into the map to make use of things.

Well I read the forums daily, and I've seen no mention. Could you direct me to these previous threads? Thanks. EDIT: To be clear i've heard that it was coming talked about, but this is the first i've seen that it was available for use, even in a limited form.

Well darn it Darien, I'm glad you pointed this out. Being the self-involved megalomaniac that I am, I of course searched for my own name. What did I find? Well my own profile, but also the profile of a rather unpleasant young man whom I recently eject-and-banned from my property. Now that's fine and dandy, let him be pissy about me not letting him keep his home on my land. But I looked at it and he has posted our conversation in his picks... but edited my part to make me say I banned him because "I do not like homosexuals"! (SO not true, btw...) Welcome to the wrong end of my Abuse Report, young man. I highly recommend everyone go search for themselves so you all can see who is libeling you!

Well I'm happier with the results of the profile search than I was when I first used it. I still think it's asking for a spam fest.

Well I found someone is selling one of my paintings. I didn't give them permission to either. It is dutch group that I know nothing about. Some of information isn't up to date. I don't have texture shop at B-dazzle island. http://secondlife.com/app/search/search?q=FD%20Spark

how would one implement this into a website search so that it would append the searched word, onto the end of the url for example right now I have to copy paste the url http://secondlife.com/app/search/search?q=then add on the search term at the end if I wanted to have that on a website, so that the person could plug in a word (into a search box) and have it load the page as the http://secondlife.com/app/search/search?q=with the searched word on the end.... Then of course that would bring up the url with the searched word am I making any sense?

Not sure think it would have to coded in such away that it add the name you wanted to search when typed in. I have wonder around the place that said it was selling my painting. I couldn't see one thing. I also information under my friend that said I have shop is incorrect and hasn't been true for months.

Hope that helps

AR'ed him and contacted Concierge to make sure it's dealt with promptly (specifically, taking down the falsified transcript). And I will definitely follow up on it. I don't mind being insulted, but being falsely accused of any kind of bigotry is something I will not put up with. It wouldn't be such a big deal if only his aquaintances saw it, but in the new search, it comes up when people search on me.

Like if I put it there, it will make a box, that ppl can type in the word they want to search for it and it would load the url for the results? (I will try it to see but also curious if what I tried to explain even made any sense) heh

Hope that gets sorted out asap! Actually followed your advice and searched my name........ freaky to see my entire profile come up. Not sure what the point of that is, actually, but maybe I'm missing something.

(I will try it to see but also curious if what I tried to explain even made any sense) heh Oops I forgot to close it, it will need a </form> added afterward. But other than that, yes, if you put that somewhere in the body of a basic web page it will make a search box you can type in and take you to the results

For those with IE7, you can add this to the search box in the browser easily: 1) Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/searchguide/en-en/default.mspx?dcsref=http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx2) Under the create your own section on the right, enter http://secondlife.com/app/search/search?q=TEST3) In the provider name box, type "Second Life" 4) Click Install and click on "add provider" in the popup box (you can also make it your default). Now to search in SL, just eneter the word or phrase into the search box in IE7 and click the little down arrow and choose "Second Life" Gomez
