I read somewhere there was questioned raised about allowing child sized avatars in adult labeled zones. This upset me because;
1) I am a adult in real life (born in 1987) and I am known for my genius scripting as a child avatar, im also known for my nickname "lil silv".
2) why punish the adults if there not doing anything wrong, just because where adults playing kid avi's not doing that wrong ( most of us anyhow) doesn't give the right to punish us if teens are going to be allow on the maingrid.
Now days you can't really know if a underage real life person is using the account anyhow, if someone keeps there password stored within the client and kid and just log into a ADULTs account and go to mature places so what is the point of the restriction(s) for adults who behave well.
I am age verified with legit info and i would hate to be forced to go adult sized. I do go into some adult mature places but it's mostly to scripting for people who are paying me for scripting, but again I AM over 18!. I am sure other child sized avatar would agree, just because we are child avatars doesn't mean we are children in RL at least not all of us.
Half of the time i don't even realize i am a child avatar, but i am known for one to the people i help, hang around and associate with. I would hate to change over a something that can't be fixed anyhow. What i mean about it is Child avatar Vs Adult avatar there is no diffence since behind the computer is a person who control's the avatar. if you gonna be an idoit on a Child avatar what is the change gonna be on a Adult?

I have passed puberty, been visited by the titty fairy, and old enough to know better, and old enough not to care.  I have seen tall av's dressed up in total elementary school outfits, acting worse than any child I have ever met. The height is not a issue, rather, what the av is trying to portray. People come in all sizes - so in SL they are in all sizes also. |

"Child Sized"? Let's scotch that nonsense now. THe size of an avatar is not what differentiates "child avatars" from "adult avatars". Even if you ignore cases like Tinies, and stick to human avatars... humans vary enormously in size. The Bambuti people of the Ituri rainforest average under 4'6" in height, should someone playing one of them be considered a "child avatar"?

people who RP a child in SL, me being one of then, dont generally go to places that are adult, so why give the kid avs another rule on top of the ones we already have to live by?
The question about.... What would happen if you were forced to be an adult avatar? its totally up to a land owner. However you wouldnt see me as a kid, which I always am, being someplace that I shouldnt be so the question is rather moot. This has been hashed over repeatedly, dont people get tired posting about the same thing? In case you missed it..... What are Linden Lab's policies towards Child Avatars Policies towards child avatars are largely focused on the actions of the avatars, not the avatars themselves. Child avatars are allowed within Second Life. A child avatar, even within a mature sim (but not participating in mature (in this case, sexual) activities is allowed. A child avatar is allowed do everything any other avatar is, with the following exceptions Child avatars in sexual situations (sexual congress obviously, though it is unclear beyond this) are not allowed and abuse reportable (ARable). Public promotion (classified listing, profile, etc.) of sexual situations with child avatars is not allowed and ARable. Creating areas for the purpose of sexual ageplay is not allowed and is ARable. This includes having items with sexual content (sexual poseballs or equipment) in proximity to items traditionally associated with children (swingsets, etc.) Indicating that the *real age* of a child avatar (as opposed to a stated SL/role playing age) is below main grid age is not allowed and ARable. As with all things, context is key, and err on the side of caution. _____________________

I do believe OP misread the reasoning.
for example, some of the RP sims include things like violence and death and there are kids avs that play in them. there are also adults who will own adult land, but still do family RP. and there are also peopole like me who are only part time kids and have many friends that will be on adult land. the rule about child av's not being involved in or hanging around / doing sexualized stuff still applies... but LL's definition of adult includes more than sexual stuff. and land labeled such doesn't imply a requirement to actually engage in 'adult' activities. please stop jumping to conclusions. _____________________

OP, you are confusing "Mature" and "Adult" and have used them interchangeably in your posting. The new Adult zoning is NOT the same as "Mature".
The new Adult zoning, as I understand it, is specific to graphically sexual/violent content only. Most stuff will still fall under "Mature". By that definition, child avatars would not be appropriate in Adult zones, but would be fine in many Mature zones, since many things in Mature sims are not sexual or violent at all. _____________________

And virtually illegal for anyone to have sex on rented 'Mature' property, since that is all "advertized" by the landlord. _____________________

I can put on a child avvie and ride my bike down the main street in Ursula City, even once it is lined with brothels and strip joints and sex shops, AS LONG AS I DON"T HAVE SEX. the question is... why would anyone in a child avatar want to even be in a place like Ursula? If one wants to go there so badly, just put on an adult avatar, or a tiny, etc, and be done with it. (as far as who is "allowed" in ursula, it will be those who have been age verified, or have the credit card on file, and have checked adult in their preferences) If they have not checked adult in their preferences, they will not be able to enter adult rated land _____________________

Because they're visiting someone who lives there, and their avatar happens to be a child. That's what I was told before I was banned from Gor: put on a human avatar. I don't have a human avatar. If they haven't installed up-to-date drivers they won't be able to either. erm why not have the adult visit you on none adult rated land? everyone has a human avatar, it is in the library folder not sure what the up to date drivers have to do with anything, my drivers are not up to date... does that mean I won't be able to go to ursula? _____________________

immy it is not in effect yet, so your pic doesn't really prove anything (it is coming in a new viewer, not the current viewer)
supposedly when it is all said and done, it will stop non adults from entering the adult areas (by non adults I mean those who have not checked adult in the new viewer) _____________________

I don't know about Ursula, but, let's extend this question to *any* private residential island that has to flag as "Adult" due to the proximity of a nightclub on the estate. I live on such an island. So does my SL daughter - a rather precocious 5-year-old (role-played, of course). Once my sim gets flagged as adult, should my daughter have to move out and find somewhere else to live? Many people will have to find somewhere else to live. My question is, should adults have to stop doing adult things because another adult role playing a kid won't leave the adult zone? |
