Virtual Ignorance?

One major factor with regard to overall ignorance is the level of interest.

Among people who consider themselves 'true' heavy metal fans, the casual comments of someone who likes all kinds of music without specific preference may sound ignorant (to them). Likewise, another group may listen to Both kinds of music: country AND western. Yeehaw! Ignorance in such cases, might be decrying the state of everyone else's ignorance.

"AVERAGE" IQ is 100 - 50% of the population has an IQ below 100. That says a lot right there.

I still wonder who creates valid IQ tests. The smartest person in the world? If so, how did he identify himself? Or maybe lots and lots of dumb people wrote the first test? Perhaps a dolphin makes them?

Besides, what's so great about being smart anyway? The smartest human in the world still could be stuck digging open-air toilets in Bangladesh or something. And if this person truly were smart, they would realise the pointlessness of materialism and just keep on digging...

Very important point with regards to Second Life. I am artistically challenged, I have never been able to draw. Someone with lower IQ than me could produce a piece of beauty way beyond the bounds of my capabilities. Now I could probably hire the said person and make money off their back but that doesn't remove the fact that they can do something that is beyond my reach and that is part of the beauty of Second Life.

In this rare case, I think so.

(Even though you missed the question mark. You missed the question mark! Does this mean you now have to be sarcastic to yourself??)
Is a hypothetical question actually a question; if not, does it not require a question mark; and do parenthetical phrases require the same adherence to normal grammmatical rules as fully formed sentences?

Pep (Interesting questions but not of relevance to the OP)

Absolutely! Intelligence and knowledge are two completely separate things. Having knowledge in something doesn't necessarily make you an intelligent person nor does having intelligence necessarily mean you have knowledge in something.

Intelligence is not necessarily based on knowledge nor lack thereof. It is based on other parameters such as being able to solve problems in the most logical sense for one example.

In order: yes. N/a. Yes.

Any other questions?

However this doesn't prove a lot without context ;) What are you trying to say about low IQ's and how does it relate to Second Life?
Um... good question. I think LittleMe's point was that there are probably as many less smart people in the world as more smart ones.

LOL, <------------ that post right. It's median not mean when using averages. 50% below 50, not! Most of the people I know including myself average over 110 to 125. LOL Or even higher than 125 is the median for my family.

But, the word issue and nit picking like school children over a word or spelling makes this forum look stupid. What is the point of debating how a word is spelled or if the correct one is used? Life is short for crying out loud. I don't have time for that type of stupidity. And one's spelling is no reflection on one's intelligence, just as age does not reflect a persons level of maturity or immaturity.

/me a little sick of the nit pickies on here
This post demonstrates quite conclusively most of the deficiencies of dumbness.

Suffice it to say that I deprecate the arguments of anyone who can not present those arguments in a coherent and cogent fashion, which might demonstrate some degree of respect for their potential audience.

As you know, I never forget grammar. It did not feature in the quoted poster's argument, however, and as a consequence I left discussion for a future time, if necessary.

Pep (I am less draconian about grammar in a forum context)

Yes I see that a lot of posters in this thread have generalizations rather than assumptions.

If you come to a forum, which is supposed to be productive, you shouldn't come with an attitude of everyone is stupid but me or I need to stroke my ego here by cutting others down. Cutting others opinions down just shows that persons lack of maturity, so I don't see how it could do something for their ego?
According to some philosophies the ego mainly wants to reassure itself of its own existence and independence. The "otherness" of everything that isn't the ego is more important than any perception of the ego's superiority.

Just me, in my previous careers, you get used to poor spelling and poor diction and learn to take it as a grain of salt. I can chat well with people from other countries on SL whose first language is not English or those trying to communicate in English on SL with broken English. Since it was a large part of my career, I'm used to it and bothers me not. Nor do I feel I have the need to make perfect sentences on a message board. Again, life is short. I worked for doctors for crying out loud who can't spell for beans, not to mention most doctors in America now are foreigners without English being their first language and most of them sounded like they just arrived off the slow boat from China. The very slow one. Most cannot spell and medical documents ARE legal documents so medical documents are of great importance compared to a message board. Oh how I had to cover their arses so many times and be under paid! lol

Wisdom, intelligence, knowledge, coolness - related but different qualities which are all going to vary from person to person and situation to situation.

I am not sure how your post relates to that of mine you quoted.

Marilyn Vos Savant would probably not seem too smart to the locals if she suddenly found herself trying to survive deep in the Amazonian jungle. Although she might do better than less "smart" equally foreign others.

I made it up, actually.

It's surprising what can be done, when your mother rings and wakes you up, then yabbers on endlessly. I get some of my best work done, whilst I "uh-huh", etc.
