I found stolen skin :(

I honestly don't know why this bugs me so much. I know how devious and dishonest some people can be, hell I've dated some like that in my lifetime. However, to be that blatant and bold about it just amazes me. This will definitely be the first AR I ever file, and I will check this place out tonight and AR them if it's all still there. And considering the boldness of this av, I'm sure it will still be there.

I, personally, am planning on doing that. I never bought a skin from Abyss so wouldn't have recognized those, but I picked the RaC ones out as soon as I looked at your blog. Thank you for pointing this out to us and for letting creators know.

if only a linden could comeby to disable the payment function on the objects and lock it into place so the ass can`t remove it would be great...

If I remember right when stuff happened like this in the past, LL doesn't do anything unless it gets a DMCA notice.

Has anybody reported this to the creator of the skins so that they can start a DMCA process? LL cannot do it, it has to be the artist.

Sorry, I just copy paste a bunch of stuff to make up my blog, in all honesty, so I had no idea what I was doing or even that there was a possibility of it not working for someone else lol. I've been on it. I IMed teh Abyss creator, though he didn't bother to actually reply, I know he got the stuff.
I also IMed the RaC creator, but no word from her yet either.
I tried IMing Munchflower, but she's away, so I IMed her contact, which is the girl that tipped me off on all the other skins being from different creators as well.

I think it's the implied threat "You it will be fudendo the other creadores" that really makes me feel bad about this. It is criminality in the worse sense. This isn't some confused newbie...

Wasn't me, and not a good thing to do. I'll stick to the official channels, and file an AR, even if it doesn't stop the theft, at least I'll feel like I did something for the real creators in SL.

The men's skins are all stolen as well, I recognise the pics although I can't name them all. OTTOMH there are some from Lost in there and possibly some from Made Men but I've definitely seen them all elsewhere. I'd dragged along behind my partner on skin shopping trips often enough!

I don't know about all of you, but when someone threatens me like that, it infuriates me. That was the comment that made me realize, I definately need to show this to everyone I can. The nerve of him saying if I dun shut he will make them all freebies and it will be MY fault? Please.

I also find it quite odd that my island which never goes down has gone down 2 times ina row now.. ;/ .. that or someone is crashing me some how I dunno. Weird if it's just a coincidence.

You know what's wrong in all of this (apart from the theft, of course). "It's your world, it's your imagination". It's our world but we are powerless to right these wrongs. We don't have the abilities to do anything except tell LL, whose policy is, "It's your world, it's your imagination".

That might have fine in the early days, when in-world theft only involved $L, but that was before people were running serious RL money-making businesses. Serious RL money-making businesses have been around since I came in, and living by that slogan doesn't cut it. It's LL's responsibility to be the power that rights such wrongs, because they are taking serious money from serious businesses.

A possible course of action:
If it were a website that is selling stolen goods, the host would be informed and asked to remove the site. That guy is in a mall - yes? Has anyone informed the mall owner. and asked that his shop be closed down? It shouldn't be too difficult to do that anywhere he opens up.

Of course, that would mean running the risk of him making the stuff freebies, but which is better? Let him continue to make money off them ad infinitum, or have some items end up as freebies?

LL first, and allow a little time, but then what?

The only action that can really be taken is the owners of the ripped items filing a DMCA and contacting the mall owner. Hopefully that gets SOMEthing done

it was a matter of time befor the knowladge of ripping would fell into the wrong hands, the problem with this guys are his morals, i`ll bet on it that he has shared it with his friends or god knows what he sells on any of the alts...

I thought I'd have a look at the place for myself. I arrived, walked outside, saw him sitting there perhaps guarding the place from thieves , went back in, came out again a few seconds later whereupon he said "I'm famous" and banned me from the place LOL. I never said a word. If he does that to everyone who goes, he won't be selling much today. Maybe he's keeping an eye on this thread.

It's still mind boggling how LL sits back and almost does nothing when things like this are pointed out. It doesn't take a genius to see things like this going on and step in and ban these people immediately instead of sitting back and waiting until all the damage is done. There is a mega classified ad running that has been running for a while with all of Naughty Design's skins and the designer states that he's a professional designer, what a joke! Please don't buy skins from this place.

This is a MASSIVE problem, and over the last few months I have been doing my bit to try and help to stop it. I have been banned from entire sims, insulted and abused by many people who are selling stolen skins. I have gone around to as many resell stores as possible, informing the owners if they are carrying stolen skins. One bastard is on the front page of search, with his store S**l skins. Boycott him. I'm already bannned from his sim. Some have morals, and remove them as soon as they know, some ban me, and some choose to call me every name under the sun (slanderer, bitch, and much, much worse. I even started a blog (under an alt) to help the fight against it (which is extrememly hard, as I don't want to post any name's until they are confirmed by the skin creators as stolen). A lot of resellers are unaware that these skins are stolen, and most take them down immediately, as soon as I inform them that they are stolen. But yes, others feel it is their right as 'If it is in a freebie store I am allowed to sell them', of the even more moronic excuse 'If the creators didn't want their skins stolen, they wouldn't have made them full perm (duh they were STOLEN).

Go to this JIRA, and vote if you care about content creation as much as most of us should. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-676 . And if you see these stolen skins, AR, IM the seller, contact me to put it in my blog, whatever you can do. Most people ask my why I am so passionate about this, as I don't even make skins (I build prefabs). It's simple. Why should the creators create any more, if, after hours of work on their product, it is simply stolen and sold full perms for as low as 1L.

Also, in my blog I did an interview with FlippperPA Peregrine, who is coming up with a new copyright sytem, to help protect creator's rights. The more informed people are, the more we help stop these bastards ruining our economy. So, vote on the JIRA, comment on my blog, and if you have anything stolen, IM me and I will put it up there. Sounds, cheesy, but together we can try adn stoop this, or at least try and force the Linden's to do something about it.
