I found stolen skin :(

I have never done this, but I think this is important for people to see because this person obviously thinks it's ok to steal skin and even went as far as to tell me they'd make it all free if I didn't shutup. Least that's how it seemed to me. You be the judge. I posted it all in its full glory on my blog. Please don't try looking at it in Firefox, it will not work. People like this should not be allowed to operate in SL.

I don't wanna be flamed for posting this. I won't be checking this thread again. I just want to let the community know what I found today.

Edit-I'll definately be ARing this now that I know that I can...I was under the assumption only the creator could AR over content theft. Oh, checked back because a sneaky forum member IMed me in world to tell me no one's upset over the post -^.^- I just don't like upsetting anyone, hoped no one would think I was just spreading rumors or something! So sad. Tete a Pied also believes that two of their skins have recently appeared in other stores, and is asking for people to inform them if they see them for sale ... presumably to file DMCAs.

This is completely puzzling in view of Eloh Eliot's generous gift of not only full perm skins, but photoshop files for them, BSD license. Why steal?

Incidently, there is a Flikr group where people share pics of their modified Another/Eloh skins. Don't have time to post here, but if someone wants to know where it is, let me know.

I know Sae said she's not checking back on this thread, but I looked at her blog, and the picture she took. There are RaC skins, there, too. I'm positive about that because I own RaC skins, and this place has one of the ones I own as well as others. The pictures are even exactly the same as the pictures at RaC.

agree, those are defenetly RaC skins, it was the first thing that caught my attention as i have a couple of them

i`d say, all skin makers unite and declare war and have LL ban him and his alts from a simple IP check/track!

Could we all AR this person? This is theft in the true definition of the word. Virtual or not, theft is theft.

Wow..... not only did they steal RaC's skins, but they even copied the names, and the actual add boards. They may as well have just done a cut and paste of the wall at RaC.

Why on earth would we flame someone for posting this? This looks like a pretty bad case of stealing.

Perhaps she's worried we'll flame her for designing a site that doesn't work in Firefox.

I did read the source, though, and it does seem quite an astoundingly blatant case of theft, and I'm sure the designers concerned will be happy to hear about... well, they won't be _happy_, but they would rather hear about it than not. Also quite eminently multiply ARable.

I'm going to check this place tonight, and send an AR. I saw that, too, on the RaC skins. Exact same ads that are hanging in RaC. It's ridiculous, and the thief isn't even creative enough to change the pictures and rename the skins. I've never sent an AR before, but I will on this *bleepity-bleep.*

I hope LL will do more than just give this creep a warning. The bad thing is, he's Brazilian and probably outside the reach of the creators' jurisdiction. And he'll probably be back in an alt doing the same thing if he isn't banned the first time.

I agree. Hopefully there's something more serious that can be done. This really burns me up....I feel like he stole MY skins...lol. I don't even know how to make skins, or steal them for that matter, but it makes me so mad to know how hard people work on their creations and someone else just comes along and thinks they can just take what doesn't belong to them and make money, too. Then threatens to undermine the original creators by making the skins freebies?!

I would suggest making sure the contents are actually the skins pictured before ARing. It could be a simple case of bait-and-switch. But Likely they are stolen. And as to the person who asked why someone would resell stolen skins, it's simple, money.

Is there any way to find that out without buying them? I know about edit and looking under the contents, but the items in contents can be easily renamed to match what it says on the ad. If I have to, I'll buy one of the RaC ones to see if it's actually the same as the one I have, but just don't want to give this person any of my lindens if I can avoid it.

Looking at some of the big classified ads / very high traffic places it sure seems to me they are advertising ripoffs in plain view of everyone.

Worth someone investigating at least.

just bought a ripped version of RaC Rita version and they are identical

so...

safe to assume all skins are 100% ripped that are on display there
