As I am having a ball today flying about the mainland and neglecting everything else in my life both in SL and RL, I'm trying to decide what is and is not worth reporting.
Do I limit AR'ing to only 16m parcels that are L$500 or more, L$1000 or more, L$5000? I'm not sure if we'll ever get a magic number or percentage from LL, so it's going to be our call on what to report.
What kind of self restraint are you all using?

I'm only ARing the ones that directly affect me.
Which is none.
But if one did affect me, I probably would.

But if one did affect me, I probably would. Since I believe they affect the entire SL economy and because I am always moving about the mainland, I don't believe that I'm not directly affected by any of them.

I think this is the best option. I'm not sure flooding them with ARs is going to help matters much. You don't want them to just start ignoring reports from people who are really suffering from it.

This is a tough one. If LL states where the extortion threshold price is, ad farmers will price thier plots just under it. I think anything at $15 a meter or more is extortion...that's double the base price of for sale listings.

I dont need some Tao chanting computer geek telling me when I am being extorted.

I don't think we should be ARing all over-priced small lots.
They have to have the other element of ruining the view, otherwise they aren't really harassing anyone. if the owner is sending out notecards or whatever harassing, then that would be ARable.
Just owning 16m and having it for sale at a high price is not, in and of itself, ARable as I understand it.

It's the intention, not the price. Not that that makes policy any easier to nail down.

if the average parcel is selling at (say) 8m, then anything priced above that should be AR'd. so, market value and lower is accetable.
in today's market, that would put a 16m plot at the range of L$128-L$175 (8m-11m).
anything higher is extortion and should be AR'd.

See, that's a problem - if people are going around just using the AR system to report over-priced land then the Lindens will be swamped and will be less effective at getting rid of the true blight that we have. By doing all this ARing you are just making what seems to be the most effective thing LL have done for ages into something that may have less teeth.

People can overprice their land and sit all they want if they think they can get it eventually. What constitutes extortion? And is a hideous build up against anyones home extortion regardless of whether they are charging L$2 above the average price or L$100? That's a tough call.

Just owning 16m and having it for sale at a high price is not, in and of itself, ARable as I understand it. Otherwise this just becomes a witch hunt. First I'd have to be affected by it. Walking past a blank parcel set for a high sale price is not extortion to me. Even if I live next to it. If there are objects placed on it, ads or whatever that harass surrounding residents, then it's AR able. But I would have to come across it in my travels. I am not going to wander the grid looking for stuff to report. I'm not going to waste the time I spend in SL doing that.

There is a 192 sqm plot in the corner of a sim I have land in. It is priced at L$70,000. There is a sort of ugly building on it and, yes, there is a sign advertising the owner's sex club.
But I'm not going to AR it even though it is obviously and attempt at extortion. It isn't really blocking anyone's view and there are no messages or notecards being spammed out.
I put up a phantom wall, on my land, using standard prims, to block the sign and that is as far as I'm taking it.
If the owner decides to make it really ugly in response to my wall, then I may have reason to AR but I am not going to waste LL's time on this one.

We welcome the decision and thank LL for considering our business in this policy. IM's like this, can be considered extortion : "Until you sell us your 16m plot, it will remain blocked" Weedy had a busy day today, trading alot of land with others. Nearly everyone was friendly and respectful (not to mention delighted), except for one (who is quoted above) Extortion to buy, is every bit as bad as extortion to sell.
