I can't come up with a compelling reason not to allow Adult material to be communicated between folks with Adult preferences.

Here's another problem with Adult (or even Mature) material in picks: Search on the website. If you go to the "Community" page, the first (or so) selection in the left-hand menu is "Search", even if you are not logged into the website. It used to be that you could choose to search for mature items, but now you cannot - anything other than PG places can only be returned inworld. I'm not saying this is impossible to deal with, but it DOES make returning search results on the website onerous, if every returned profile has to be filtered for Mature or Adult words. I wonder if they do that already?

Ugh some of you people in the forums! Instead of dreaming up new things to police why don't you get ou there and play?? SL is or WAS supposed to be a place to explore things you can't do in RL but I come to these forums and see 10-20 page threads come up when it has anything to do with adult issues. As if we were still back in grade school with the teacher approaching sex education for the first time. It's exactly this kind of attitude that has got us to this point in SL. OMG people have SEX, omg the horror! How did we all get here then?? Its not a big deal people. Lets dwell on other things, like world peace, the state of lag in SL etc.

Complete agreement. But, SL really stands for Salem around here and Puritanism is alive and well in Forums. I fill my profile up with everything I can think of about me in real and in sl. Use my real pic, my sl pic, and pics of me in sl coz I am egotistical. Th amazing thing is you can tell truth but no one believes you. It's fun that way.
Remember some people get their jollies from vigilanteism. It works on a fear factor. It smacks of facism to me.

A big selling point for the new Adult rating is that you can advertise using filtered keywords. So now running a classified using those keywords will apparently make your profile in violation of the TOS.

This has not been thought through. LL needs a more realistic policy on profiles than "They are all supposed to be PG."

We do not filter keywords when searching for avatar names or profiles. Information in Resident profiles should be PG. Please refer to our Community Standards to review our policy.
