From: Dave Herbst This just in from the Linden Blog Dave - that's all fine and dandy. But I don't think that anyone has actually "defined" what low prim is. The LL policies and TOS really leave that up in the air, and it's not clear exactly what is considered "low prim"....some would debate that anything over 10 prims for a sofa is considered high prim, yet others feel that a 20 prim sofa is still considered low prim. Many of us do not have a clue on whether we will be required to move to the new low prim continent or not. And there has been talk that if you are currently using 6000 prim count for your store, in the land exchange, you will only receive 3000 prims, as a test to actually validate your low prim status. Then, there are those who are muddying the waters with sculpties, which many interpret as flagrant violations of the TOS. LL seems to be avoiding addressing this issue clearly. Plenty of gray areas here, in how each person interprets some rather ambiguous statements from LL. Clearly, for most of us, it is just a matter of "common decency" for all sculpty users to stay out of the new low prim continent. I even saw a pic posted on a well known blog of a sculpty table sitting next to a 4 prim table constructed in acceptable fashion, in one of the welcome areas of the designated low prim continent. As others have said before...."This is not going to end well."

How do you turn on the muddy water effect? None of the viewers I've used seem to have this feature.
Also, how do you turn off the muddied waters effect in the forums. It seems to be all the time here. At least, there's a lot of stuff in here that looks like mud, although it smells worse.

Personally, I feel that the new LL TOS does not adequately address the situation. Low prim furniture is just the tip of the iceberg. It is just one of the many tools the low lives that practice the so called "low prim life style" employ. You can bet that you will find this low prim furniture located in a low prim building of some sort.
While we all know that well made furniture requires a great many prims, I think that we can all agree that an adequate dwelling should use roughly 75% of a parcel's availiable prim limit. Linden policy would seem to support this. All you have to do is look at the numerous builds created by the LDPW to see what I'm talking about here.
Further, there is the question of low prim plants. besides the fact that they are ugly, proponents of the low prim idea are often hard at work erecting jungles and forests of these monstrosities. This not only blocks the view for other residents, but leads to excessive texture load times in some cases.
I think that we need to give feedback to the Lindens on these issues. Let's put all of the low primmers where they belong.

From: Phil Deakins They love me - they all love me. That's not what I'm hearing, Phil. I heard the other night that they had a conversation regarding a strike on your store. Apparently, they said, that you are ripping baby prims from their mothers arms. I always thought you were a nice guy, but now the only words I can choke up is "You evil bastard"

Low prim furniture makers are like shody cheap builers building a beach, any real builder worth his salt prims will make a beach from physical microprim sand grains, not sculpties.

Making sculpts look better
07-06-2009 10:53
Thought I would post this - as I was looking through sculpts in order to make LOW PRIM furniture for my LOW PRIM land ... I found this helpful (now my stuff doesn't look prickly when I zoom out)
On the top menu go to Advanced (Ctrl-Alt-D if you don't see it) and click on Debug Settings. On the window that opens, write RenderVolumeLODFactor and change it to a value of 4 or greater. I use 8. Now the sculpts will not distort when viewing from distance.

Just in case there is *any* 'serious' to this thread, the only problem I've ever had with low prim furniture (and I have it regularly, with 'most' low prim furniture, not sure why) is that 'broken script' thing, when you go to sit and suddenly the script pops out where you can see the script icon, and the sit pose doesnt work. If I really, really like the furniture's look, I just usually remove the scrip/sit pose because I don't know how to fix it. Most low prim furniture I've bought has had this issue.

I heard from a blog that a certain Low Prim creator was a heavy bot user.. and now with the ban on bots, is using underage bots, since he can get them hidden easier.
The feds really need to step in and stop this insanity!

I will never buy Low prim again! I bought what i thought was a new couch..It said it was a new 4 prim couch..The color and everything looked like it would match perfectly with the room it was going in.. So i tried to drop the couch and it said i kept going over my prim limit and wouldn't let me drop it.. So i went to another empty lot in the sim where i build things to see what the heck was going on.. I dropped the couch and everything looked normal..It looked the same as the add showed.. So i sat down and all of a sudden i hear this *klink!!* So i get up and pull one of the cushions out.. Beer cans and change and popcorn all under the cushions.. I screamed as loud as i could..I have been sold used furniture!! Who owned this?? Some sports fans!!!11oneone There must have been 30 prims in popcorn seeds alone!! Even the bottom side of the cushions had beer stains and smelled like old dog!! I tried to go back to the place to get my 5k back and they were gone There was some sign on the door that said Mo Money,Mo Money Mo Money Yeeeah Booyeee!! flava Flaaaaaaav!!!!! So no more low prim for me..

Do not buy low prim furniture ! It is made by child-avatars and you would support (now knowingly) child-avatar labor.

Low prim furniture is kind of junky yes but some places don't allow many prims so one might not have a choice. From: Emma Starsider Do not buy low prim furniture ! /me gets the tinfoil hat out Tinfoil hat! Now we're talking! I should make a line of low-prim tinfoil hats. I could make them with doggie ears and kitty ears and dragon ears - for all species! We will need them soon, as the aliens will come down upon us from Zindra Tuesday next. /me goes back into hiding in my low-prim castle with my stash of tinfoil and starts covering the low-prim walls with it.
