I love your posts!

You're gritty and edgy and .......... gritty!

Thanks. I did not know I was covered with grits, though. Thank-you for letting me know, I'll get one of the cats to lick off the grits. Not sure if they like grits, though. :)

I am not part of any clique.

I am not even in the forums cartel group.

I also did not bring this up in any thread with a title like that (that I remember), I started a new thread on the subject on purpose so as not to further derail any other threads.

whats the point of your thread ...to get me rubbished maybe ? to get the rules on the forum changed ? Or is it just a blatant nit pick .Please tell.

I recently posted the thread about skin oasis as you know the thread title gave no clue as to what it was about...it didnt stop over 5000 reads though ;)

Actually, I thought that thread would be about skin. I like skin threads, especially as Windlight seems to have changed the way skin looks. :)

If the grits had bacon or sausage and cheese added while cooking the cats might eat them. But I must warn you, we ship cold grits to New Jersey for them to use as road patch. Never attempt to eat cold grits.

THANK YOU! I had that problem this morning. I was doing a search earlier today and was running into that exact problem. 10 pages of results and way too many gave no clue what they were about in the title.

I did a search earlier based on a thread someone had started which immediately got the response "this comes up every month" or something like that - so did a search and got a ton of results. A lot of the results were off topic or not immediately apparent what they were about, and so was only able to post links to something like 10-15 threads. :)

so in that case a full title was irrelevant anyway :D

You aren't the only one who does it.

So although you are taking it the most personally .. I actually didn't have you in mind when I made this thread.

I more had the fact that it is done in mind.

I was curious as to why it was done. I don't start that many threads. I try to choose my titles carefully, therefore I assumed the half titles are done on purpose.

It DOES make it harder to know what the thread is about. So its a natural question as to why someone would want their thread topic to be more obscure than necessary.

Warmish grits, but fast losing their cooked in heat though. Definitely not instant grits, though, no self-respecting Southerner would use instant grits.

/me purrs as she stands there naked, covered in grits and meows "Please be careful and just get the grits please."

Yes you may study me.

Grits aren't even good for that. Vile disguisting things they are. Now biscuits and gravy...that's another story.

Interesting Ive just checked and unless you count the thread I called 'weird' only two of the postings Ive done had incomplete titles. They've had a vastly higher number of reads than posts with explanatory titles.

I cant seem to find many other examples as far as the residents answers forum is concerned. Whether it is prevelant elsewhere I dont know.

I think it's mostly just a style for some people. It does pique interest or curiosity.......just read some headlines in newspaper or even on the web (not to mention the "teasers' TV put out). For the most part it does not bother me at all. I sometimes open the thread just to see what the real subject is......sometimes not.

My thoughts are if the poster has a serious issue he/she needs an answer to they will put up a complete and discrptive title. But, if it's some minor issue that it might be nice to have some input on then the half title might get some to jump in and contribute (even in a light hearted way). It sure isn't something to get my panties all wadded up over. :)

But, since we are bitching about pet peeves: Why do people put the "/ me" in front of their posts? This forum is not formated to eliminate the colon following your name like in world chat? I've been seeing that more and more lately.........is there a point to it?

:) :) :)

I see SL Forums as an extension of SL, at least that seems to be the case and I just naturally put /me or the like. I suppose I could reword it.

As I stand there naked but for a covering of grits, I softly purr. "Yes, you may study me, you naughty isle-man," I meow softly before approaching and reclining on the sofa.

I'm not sure even the wiki can adequately explain grits to someone in the UK. Heck, it's hard to explain them to someone who isn't from the southern US (for our UK friends, the South is usually the SE. The southwestern US is referred to as the South West, but it isn't part of the THE SOUTH. It's arguable whether Florida, our most South Eastern State is part of the South for cultural reasons. And yes, we are a bunch of incoherent idiots). Trust me, it almost makes sense if you live here.

Grits are sort of like cream of wheat, except they're gritty. They can be served with greasy meaty stuff, like cheese and bacon, or greasy sweet stuff like butter and sugar. Cream of wheat is like oatmeal, only not lumpy and more wheaty. Most people who are not from the South look at them suspiciously and want very little to do with them. I happen to like them, but my mom was from rural Virginia (in the South), so I'm half Southern...sigh...lets not start a discussion on collard greens and ham hocks. This is sort of like asking a Norwegian to explain lutefisk.

Thank-you. I had no real idea what grits really were, though I've seen them on a plate (not my plate), and was just going off of that "you are gritty" comment. :)

And the "no self-respecting Southerner would use instant grits" was from "My Cousin Vinny."

Then I must warn you, I have no idea what I'm doing, I am never confident that clicking on my inventory will either remove my shoes or make me dance like a moose.

However, I have an inner confidence in my ability so I will give it a go.

A true statement. As a culture, Southerners take quite a bit of pride in their cooking and instant grits are looked down upon. They have a right to be proud - good Southern food will make tears of joy well up in your eyes. It might also destroy your arteries, make you morbidly obese and cause your blood pressure to skyrocket. Sweet tea, cornbread cakes with honey butter, fried chicken, pecan pie, greens...OMG. I'm starving.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I know some people don't appreciate the value of meaningful thread titles, but I cannot understand why someone would actively fight against them.

This forum exists for the sharing of information. Using a descriptive thread title helps in many ways. It helps people browsing the forum quickly identify topics that interest them. It helps the OP by increasing the chance a knowledeable person will see their question and answer it. It helps other residents with the same question find relevant threads, which in turn helps everyone by consolidating information and reducing duplicate threads. These are all valid reasons to use a meaningful thread title, and to politely ask others to do the same. This forum has a specific function, and we simply want it to work better.

For those who feel that thread titles are NOT about good communication, but are only about teasers and taglines and getting you attention, I can only say that we strongly disagree about the purpose of this forum. I think it's about helping each other. Apparently you think it's about all about you.

So good luck with that. In the meantime, I'm going to keep trying to make this forum a better and more useful place.

ETA: And I apologize for derailing the whole grits groove. ;)
