How come ... (about thread titles)

.. all of a sudden people only use half titles in Resident answers?

Are they afraid if they use the whole title they will be ignored?

Maybe its so that if someone doesn't care about their topic, theyll be suckered in and somehow forced to answer?

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the US, Friday came early this week.

Its temp talk and its get people curiosty peaked. I ve been around lots of forums, maybe new in a way to SL but not new to the systems and it does get people to be thinking "whats next?" and it does grab attention. Maybe it is just venting or serious but you know that what other do, live and let live.. if You dont like it, you dont bother with it, there is no rule stating how someone should post with a full title. If that makes anyone uncomfy then they should petition that it is a rule.

Never posted half a title myself but when I point my mouse over titles, I get a glimpse of the 2nd part. Isn't it the same for everyone?

I do it because it seems ludicrous typing in a question as a title and then repeating it in the body of the thread.

If people dont want to read they dont have to but Im certainly not going to change the way I post my threads.

I have to work on Friday. I live in the US of A.

Afraid what of ? Is there some dread forum bogeyman whos going to come and get me for the way I decide to project MY ideas and MY thoughts ?

It would be definitely new to Resident answers. Or at least it was very uncommon till this last week or so.

Otherwise I somehow missed it.

If it makes you feel better, I have to work Friday, and tomorrow too.

Thought on the subject: Despite the above I do prefer a little bit of information in the title, so I can see whether I might be able to answer a question, or if it's something I know nothing about. Plus it gives me a chance to search for links to possibly relevant information without opening every thread.
Especially if there's 40 new threads popping up because the grid's borked

No, I might wish that I had a five day weekend (there was talk in another thread of two having a 5 day weekend), but I am not one of those "misery loves company" people. I am sorry you have to work tomorrow and Friday.

well consider this lets just say everyone did it ..

Heres how the titles would come out

"Why is it that .. "

"Could you tell me .."

"How come .."

"How do you .."

"Does anyone know why .."

"Where do you .."


Therefore if it became the norm, then NO thread titles will convey ANY useful information.

well thats there choice isnt it...personally I just scout through and see whats new.

Since the thread has been started I'll speak up and admit it drives me crazy. I really wish everyone would give at least some idea of the topic in the title. The "move the mouse" over excuse has been given before and my response is "why should I?".

Oh, and there are literally 474 pages of threads (well, you have to set it to show max threads per page to fit all on 474 pages), and it is a lot easier to find something that might be interesting when searching those 474 pages if there is a complete title. And note, I am not talking about searching for a specific topic, I mean just randomly looking to see if someone else has a similar problem you hadn't thought to ask about or you have information you can convey but do not realize that "How do . . . " leads to a thread asking how do you save pictures that you have in your inventory in SL to your computer hard-drive.

I am not even in the forums cartel group.

I also did not bring this up in any thread with a title like that (that I remember), I started a new thread on the subject on purpose so as not to further derail any other threads.

I recently posted the thread about skin oasis as you know the thread title gave no clue as to what it was about...it didnt stop over 5000 reads though

THANK YOU! I had that problem this morning. I was doing a search earlier today and was running into that exact problem. 10 pages of results and way too many gave no clue what they were about in the title.

Sorry... Sometimes I forget that some of you are maybe using laptops and such. I'm a mouse person (and obviously a little self-absorbed, thinking everyone's like me LOL)
